On Friday, March 25, the Montgomery County Police Department team participated in the annual Special Olympics Maryland Police Plunge. The event takes place each year at Sandy Point State Park on the Chesapeake Bay.
According to organizers, the first Police Plunge took place in 2012 and raised over $100,000. Since then, agencies have raised over $2 million dollars. Learn more at www.plungemd.com

(SILVER SPRING, MD) – Troopers arrested and charged a Montgomery County man early Thursday morning after a Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation developed evidence supporting charges of possession of child pornography.
Today in District Court, defendant James Ryan, 48, of Clarksburg, was ordered held without bond, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Ryan was arrested yesterday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death his of 25-year-old girlfriend, Sarah Harris.
Montgomery County Police have announced that they will be holding a community event on Saturday, May 14, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.
The event is in celebration of the departments 100th anniversary.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s SoberRide program will be offering free Lyft rides from 4 pm, Thursday, March 17 until 4am, Friday, March 18.
WRAP’s SoberRide will provide a free Lyft ride home up to $15. Users are then financially responsible for anything over $15.
The Montgomery County Police Department posted the following on their social media accounts on Monday evening:
“On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 1:25 a.m., Montgomery County Police Sergeant B. Drew was heading home from his evening shift when he and Montgomery County Police Officer N. Rodgers came upon a single vehicle collision in the area of Montgomery Village Ave. The engine compartment was on fire, causing a brush fire as well.
Detectives are investigating a collision involving a bicyclist that occurred in Clarksburg yesterday.
