Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council President Kate Stewart, other Councilmembers, and State and local officials joined together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the 6th District Police Station on June 2. The new Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) station replaces an outdated facility with a new, sustainably designed, energy-efficient building. Montgomery County held its seventh annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony in Rockville to kick off Pride Month, joined by local officials, Congressman Jamie Raskin, and LGBTQ+ community leaders. The event featured keynote speakers from Montgomery County Public Schools and the MoCo Pride Center, and also marked the launch of this year’s “Ride With Pride” bus, which will run throughout June to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community. Montgomery County has announced two free fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory on Friday, July 4 at South Germantown Recreational Park and Mid-County Sparkles on Saturday, July 5 at Albert Einstein High School, both starting at 7 p.m. with live music and fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. In addition to the Montgomery County government events, fireworks will also take place at Gaithersburg’s SummerFest on Saturday, June 28 at Bohrer Park and at Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4 at Mattie J.T.
