The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Trust, is offering $750,000 in grants through the Clean Water Montgomery Grant Program for local nonprofit organizations to fund community-driven projects aimed at improving water quality, with applications due by November 14, 2024.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that 26-year-old Adela Beatriz Orellana, of Hyattsville, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft for stealing the contents of UPS packages she accepted, while employed at UPS and selling the stolen contents at local pawn shops.

At today’s Board of Education meeting, the authorization will be requested to receive and expend, subject to County Council approval, a Fiscal Year 2025 supplemental appropriation of $2,000,000 for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to install vape detectors at each high school.
