WTOP’s Kate Ryan reports that Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker has withdrawn his name from the County Executive race.

Hucker, who currently represents District 5 as a Councilmember, announced that he had formed an “exploratory” committee ahead of an expected bid back in July of 2021 before officially filing in December of last year.

Per Montgomery County:

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) is seeking animal lovers to bring pets from the shelter into their homes on a temporary basis to prepare them for adoption. Every pet that is fostered has a better chance at a happier and healthier life. MCASAC is currently in need of foster homes for large dogs.

Reardon Sullivan has announced his campaign for County Executive. Reardon is currently the chairman of Montgomery County’s Republican Central Committee (MCRCC), which is official organization of the Republican Party in Montgomery County.

He is currently the only GOP candidate to file, and would go up against the winner of the Democratic primary between incumbent Marc Elrich, David Blair, Tom Hucker, and Hans Riemer.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich delivered his 2022 “State of the County” address today at the Silver Spring Civic Building. This was Elrich’s first in-person State of the County address since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
