Montgomery County Reminds Residents that Federal Regulations Continue to Require Face Coverings on Public Transportation—Including Taxis, Ride Sharing, Ride On, Ride On Extra and Flash Bus
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) reminds residents that Federal guidelines continue to require face coverings when traveling by public transportation. Local examples include County Ride On buses, Ride On extra, Flash, Metrobus, Metrorail and when taking taxis or on-demand car services. All MCDOT buses have a supply of face coverings for those who do not have their own. At this time, the Federal requirement is scheduled to remain in effect through Sept. 13.

Popeyes in Downtown Silver Spring Update
We first reported back in October that Popeyes will be taking over the space that was left vacant by Bombay Gaylord in 2015 at 8401 George Ave. in Silver Spring. Bombay closed after a fire destroyed the restaurant and the owners have since opened Nirvana Indian Cuisine in Olney back in late 2018.
Elder Pine Brewing Company at 4200 Sundown Rd in Gaithersburg is collaborating with the students of the Maryland Institute College of Art / Rinehart School of Sculpture in Baltimore to host a sculpture exhibit titled “To Sprout, To Share, To Sing” now through August 19th.
The brewery is providing an opportunity for the students to showcase their work given the lack of exhibition opportunities this year due to COVID-19.

MCPS to Host Annual PRIDE Town Hall on May 26
Montgomery County Public Schools will be hosting their annual PRIDE Town Hall on Wednesday, May 26 from 6-9pm.
Earlier today the Montgomery County Council approved a new Board of Health regulation which no longer requires residents to wear masks outdoors, or indoors if they are fully vaccinated.
