The Gaithersburg Police Department (GBPD) have arrested 31-year-old Jovani Ramos in connection with a stabbing at Cancun Mexican Restaurant on December 26, 2024, charging him with attempted second-degree murder and multiple assault offenses, and he is currently being held without bond.
A hit-and-run in Gaithersburg on January 27, 2025, led to a stolen vehicle, a home invasion in Germantown, and an armed police pursuit across state lines, ending in Virginia with the arrest of 32-year-old Esmeraldo Martinez De La Cruz, who was reported missing from New York along with his 4-year-old daughter. Maryland State Police (MDSP) shared on Monday morning that over the weekend, state troopers responded to 15 suspected DUI incidents. Of those, seven involved multiple vehicles and seven involved someone being transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.
