Richard Montgomery High School, founded in 1892, continues to embrace its role as Montgomery County’s oldest public high school while looking ahead to its future. The Rockville school shared a published historical overview a couple years back, tracing its evolution from a modest addition to an elementary school into one of the county’s most recognized academic institutions.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is preparing to make its long-awaited debut on Rockville Pike, with the restaurant now expected to open in “about two weeks,” according to a representative from the chain’s White Oak location. The Rockville store is currently scheduled to open a couple days before Christmas (exact date not provided), marking the brand’s second location in Montgomery County.
Montgomery History, the county’s historical society since 1944, has announced a $1 million gift from publisher and philanthropist Knight Kiplinger to launch its capital campaign for a new Montgomery County History Center in downtown Rockville.
A section of NB MD-355 is currently shut down in Rockville following a crash near the intersection of 355 and Gude Drive, close to Watkins Pond Boulevard. The collision appears to involve a dump truck that overturned onto its side and another vehicle with significant front-end damage.
Rockville city government and all city facilities will be closed on Dec. 25 for Christmas and Jan. 1 for New Year’s, with City Hall also closing temporarily on Dec. 11 for an employee recognition event. Holiday week trash and recycling schedules will shift for Thursday customers, parking will be free at city-owned meters on both holidays, and several city facilities will operate on limited hours around Dec. 24, 26, and 31. Two Maryland restaurants, including one right here in Montgomery County, have earned national recognition on Restaurant Business’ prestigious 2025 “Top 100 Independents” list, which highlights the country’s highest-grossing independent dining establishments.
Buffalo Wild Wings will officially say goodbye to Rockville this weekend. An employee at the restaurant confirmed to us that the location’s final day of operation will be Sunday, December 7, and noted that the restaurant is likely to close before its scheduled midnight closing time depending on when it runs out of food items to serve.
Lands’ End is closing its store at 1667 Rockville Pike in Congressional Plaza on January 24, with a store closing sale now underway, as first reported by Robert Dyer.
