Mayan Monkey Brewing Co. has opened at 227 E. Diamond Ave, in the former location of Growlers and Summit Station Brewery. While the brewery awaits its state license to brew on-site, it is offering a selection of beers from Flying Dog, Modelo, and Pacifico.
Signage is up for Uncle Marcos’ Express at 239 Muddy Branch Rd in the Festival at Muddy Branch shopping center in Gaithersburg. The restaurant will be located in the space previously occupied by Boca Botanas, which closed on February 3. (more…)

Back in January we let you know that Eggspectation, a restaurant that serves “elevated American cuisine with a lengthy all-day breakfast menu alongside hearty lunch and dinner fare”, is returning to Montgomery County with its upcoming Burtonsville location. After a previous expected opening timeframe of fall 2024, an “early 2025” timeframe is now listed for the restaurant.
Eggspectation left Montgomery County in September of 2020 after 15 years in Downtown Silver Spring. The restaurant plans to return early next year with its new location at the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center (15701 Columbia Pike). “What started as one location in Montreal is now a thriving franchise spanning six countries. eggspectation boasts 30 years of success serving our guests across the globe! The idea sprung to life in Montreal in 1993, where we began with a passion for menu innovation and memorable experiences. Since then, we’ve grown into the USA, Egypt, Pakistan, Qatar and UAE.”
Charley Prime Foods, at 9811 Washington Blvd in Gaithersburg’s Rio has reopened after an equipment issue in its kitchen forced the restaurant to close over the weekend. (more…)
ZiZa Kabob, which opened its first restaurant at 7351 Assateague Dr. in Jessup, has signed on to open its second location in the Twinbrook Quarter development that will feature the upcoming Wegmans in Rockville. ZiZa is associated with Baltimore’s Maiwand Grill and Kabul Grill.
Earlier this week, DC-based &Pizza announced a limited-time dessert called “Marion Berry Knotts,” described as “Marion berry filled knots topped with icing, powdered sugar, and then even more powdered sugar.” (more…)
