Lakeforest Mall officially closed on March 31, 2023, after nearly 45 years in Gaithersburg, and now longtime residents have a chance to bring home a piece of its history. The mall’s outdoor signs are currently up for auction through Capital Online Auctions, with local pickup required. The listing encourages bidders to “own a piece of Gaithersburg history,” noting that multiple outdoor Lakeforest signs are being liquidated.
California Fish Grill is preparing to open its first Montgomery County location at 12238 Rockville Pike in Rockville and will host a Friends and Family preview event from November 7 through November 9. Plans for a high-end Eddie V’s Prime Seafood restaurant in Gaithersburg’s Lakelands community are no longer moving forward. The original plan included the restaurant being built alongside Lake Varuna located off of Great Seneca Hwy on Lakelands Dr.

Federal Realty has announced that Nordstrom Rack will open a 26,000 square foot store at Congressional Plaza in Rockville in fall 2026. The store will be located at 1683 Rockville Pike, the former site of Buy Buy Baby.

Flavor Hive’s return to Germantown has drawn a massive crowd. By 11:15am, hundreds of people had already formed a line outside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, eagerly waiting to grab a taste of the viral food truck’s famous chip bag meals and custom bowls. Organizers expect thousands of attendees throughout the day as the event continues until 8pm.
In August 2024, we shared that Fuddruckers planned to return to Maryland and Washington DC, with new locations slated to open in the fall.
