OTC Bar & Grille Now Open For Carryout and Delivery

The OTC Bar & Grille in Olde Towne Gaithersburg has announced it is now open for carryout and delivery. OTC Bar & Grille is located in the former Olde Towne Cafe restaurant space at 226 E Diamond Ave in Gaithersburg, as well as the adjacent space that was previously home to Diamond Drugs. Last year the owners of the Olde Towne Cafe knocked down the wall that separates the two locations to create the new restaurant/bar space.

Olde Towne Cafe has been a staple in Olde Towne Gaithersburg for decades, serving pancakes, waffles, and breakfast platters, as well as lunch sandwiches. The new restaurant features many favorites from the Old Towne Cafe’s menu, and will also be open for dinner and serve alcohol once the restaurant is open for dine-in customers.

FREE Haus Dog for 2022 High School/College Graduates at Montgomery County Dog Haus Locations Until June 30th

All 2022 high school and college graduates can score a FREE Haus Dog at any of the three MoCo Dog Haus locations from now until June 30th! Limit one per graduate. Just show your student ID.

The first Dog Haus opened in Pasadena, CA in 2010. In 2018, the restaurant opened its first east coast location in Bethesda (7904 Woodmont Ave). The Gaithersburg location (644 Center Point Way) opened in January of 2020 and Silver Spring (933 Ellsworth Dr.) in 2021.

Saphire, located at 7940 Wisconsin Ave, has just announced that it will be closing permanently. The popular Bethesda nightlife location posted the following message on its Facebook page:

Terra Mare, a New Italian Restaurant, Will Hold Its Grand Opening On Saturday, June 18

Angel Mendoza, who was the chef behind the recently closed Baronessa in Rockville and Angel’s Pizza and Pasta in Wheaton Mall, is back with a new restaurant. His newest venture, an Italian restaurant named Terra Mare, is located at 2504 Ennals Ave in Wheaton– the former location of Intipuqueño Restaurant.

Terra Mare will feature pasta, pizza, “a la parilla” which means “on the grill” and features various steaks as well as fajitas, seafood, chicken dishes, soups, and salads. The restaurant will be open Sunday-Thursday from 11am until midnight, and Friday/Saturday from 11am until 1am.

Washingtonian Names Park Potomac’s King Street Oyster Bar ‘Best Oyster Happy Hour’

Washingtonian released its ‘Best of Summer: Where We’d Have a Drink Right Now’ list that includes “new rooftop lounges, summery cocktails, terrific happy hour deals, and more reasons to raise a glass.” King Street Oyster Bar, which opened a location in Park Potomac this past March, was named ‘Best Oyster Happy Hour.”

Per Washingtonian: All four locations of King Street Oyster Bar—Potomac, NoMa, Leesburg, and Middleburg—offer a top-notch daily happy hour. Dollar oysters, plus a wide array of $7 drinks, are available from 3 to 6:30. (The DC location goes until 7.)

Crown Fried Chicken Now Open in Silver Spring

Crown Fried Chicken is now open at 1909 Seminary Rd in Silver Spring, taking over the former location of Krazy Steve’s (and Armand’s Pizza before that.) The restaurant is open 10am-9pm daily.

Crown Fried Chicken opened its first Montgomery County location at 9120 Rothbury Dr. in Montgomery Village (next to Athens Grill) in March of 2021 and closed the location in February of this year. The menufeatures various chicken and waffle combinations, omelets, wings, cheesesteaks, and gyros. The chain is known for using Halal chicken and has locations across the east coast. The closest franchise locations are in Hyattsville, Waldorf, and Washington, DC.

Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden to Open First Montgomery County Location

Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden is coming to 7747 Tuckerman Ln (Cabin John Village), the former site of Lahinch Tavern, according to Store Reporter. Augie’s currently has a location at 1106 King Street in Alexandria, VA. In addition to mussels, menu items include a 10-Day Cured & Smoked Brisket Sandwich, Chicken Pot Pie Empanada, Chicken & Waffles, and Soft Shell Crab. Opening information has not been announced.

According to their website, “Inspired by St. Augustine, the Patron Saint of Brewers, Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden in historic Old Town, Alexandria blends traditional Belgium cuisine with a modern twist. Washingtonian Names MoCo’s Zinnia ‘Best Tavern Garden’

Washingtonian released its ‘Best of Summer: Where We’d Have a Drink Right Now’ list that includes “new rooftop lounges, summery cocktails, terrific happy hour deals, and more reasons to raise a glass.” Zinnia is the beer & wine garden, cafè, tavern, and fine dining restaurant that took over the Mrs. K’s Tollhouse location at 9201 Colesville rd in Silver Spring, in October 2021, and was named ‘Best Tavern Garden.’

Per Washingtonian: “The grassy gardens at Silver Spring’s Zinnia are outfitted with lounge and picnic tables plus plenty of space for kids to run. A globetrotting menu combines fish ’n’ chips with family-style Aleppo lamb stew, Old World wines, and Maryland beers.”

BoBaPoP Tea Bar Will Hold Grand Opening This Weekend With Deals on Drinks

Last month we let you know that BoBaPop Tea Bar opened up inside the Kyoto Matcha location at 33 Maryland Ave Unit A in Rockville Town Square. The store will officially hold a Grand Opening this weekend, with deals on drinks available both days.

BoBaPoP opened its location at 312 Main Street in the Kentlands in 2018 and was the first of the Vietnamese based company’s stores to open in the United States. BoBaPop opened its second MoCo location at 19847 Century Blvd, Unit J in Germantown, the former site of August 32, back in November. The company has over 150 stores worldwide.

Philz Coffee Closes Permanently in Bethesda

Philz Coffee, located at 7247 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, has closed permanently, according to the company website. The coffee shop is also listed as “permanently closed” on its Facebook page. Philz Coffee opened its Bethesda location in December of 2018. DC Area locations in Adams Morgan, Navy Yard, and Ballston remain open.
