Little Beet Table in Chevy Chase has closed permanently. The restaurant was located in The Collection at Chevy Chase (5471 Wisconsin Ave.) and opened in November of 2020.

Little Beet Table, which still has a location on Park Avenue in New York, served brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks with a vegetable-forward, seasonal approach. They have a 100% gluten-free menu packed with nourishing, wholesome dishes.


Updated to reflect that it has taken over the former site of Pizza Palace.

Apna Pizza is coming to 14050 Travilah Rd in Rockville, the former site of Pizza Palace. The new pizzeria is currently under construction and representatives from the restaurant tell us that they hope to be open in mid-to-late April.


Hip Flask, the rooftop bar that’s inside of The Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ, will be opening up a few weeks later than previously anticipated. Representatives tell us the bar now plans to open on Tuesday, May 3rd

Hip Flask will serve small plates and craft cocktails. The new hotel also features a 360 degree lobby bar. Seventh State, the hotel’s restaurant, which includes a built-in Italian wood oven and indoor/outdoor seating opened earlier this month.


Scratch Kitchen & Bistro will be taking over the location that was formerly home to CB Acai and House of Fortune at 18062 Georgia Avenue in Olney. The new restaurant has announced on Instagram that it plans to hold its grand opening on Sunday, May 15th. Temporary signage has been up in the windows for about two weeks or so, announcing the restaurant’s May opening.

The restaurant is described as a family-owned bistro and cafe. It will serve breakfast and lunch classics made from locally sourced ingredients. CB Acai announced in November 2021 that it would be closing the Olney storefront and continue to operate its catering business and food truck. The acai bowl and smoothie spot first opened in July of 2020.


Ikura Asian Sushi at 18212 Flower Hill Way (Flower Hill Shopping Center) in Gaithersburg will have its grand opening this Friday, March 25.  It replaces Hunan Best, which was in that location for the last 30 years.

Ikura Asian Sushi features Japanese themed cuisine and is owned by Micky Zheng, who is also the owner of Micky’s Chinese Restaurant at 18204 Contour Rd in Gaithersburg.


Jerry’s Subs and Pizza has closed its Aspen Hill location at 13645 Connecticut Ave, an employee of the store confirmed last week.

The location was closed today and all items in the restaurant were sold via auction and picked up today. Our very own Alex T. won auctions for two of the signs and picked them up today.


J. Hollinger’s is preparing for an early April opening in Silver Spring, according to the restaurant’s website. It will be located in the Lee Plaza building at 8601 Georgia Avenue, in the space that was previously home to Ray’s the Classics (later known as just the Classics) from 1998 until 2018.

The restaurant is being opened by Jerry Hollinger and Mike Ellis. Hollinger currently has two other Montgomery County restaurants- The Daily Dish on Grubb Road and The Dish & Dram on Kensington Pkwy in Kensington.


Playa Bowls will open its fifth Montgomery County location at Chevy Chase Lake. Three residential developments are slated to be part of the Chevy Chase Lake development in Chevy Chase and the development is designed to be a walkable, mixed-use community with a town center and access to the Capital Crescent Trail.

It is located adjacent to Connecticut Avenue and the planned Purple Line transit system, which will provide an east-west connection between Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.


Hallowed Grounds Coffee Co. is coming to 15 Fulks Corner Ave in Olde Towne Gaithersburg as part of Saints Row’s “Craft Collective.”

Saints Row announced this past fall that it would be moving to the Fulks Corner location, which was formerly home to Brawling Bear Brewery, this spring. The brewery hopes to be open by the end of April.


A Korean corn dog company called “Kong Dog” is set to open up soon at the Glenmont Shopping Center (12335-H Georgia Avenue).

The Korean corn dog restaurant has been opening up shop across the country and has chosen Glenmont as its first Maryland and MoCo location. It will be taking over the storefront that was previously home to El Encanto, next to Subway.
