Today, the Washington Commanders announced their selection of HKS, a global architecture and design firm, as the lead architect for the team’s new, state-of-the-art stadium. Anchored by the stadium and the franchise’s historic $2.7 billion private investment in Washington, D.C., 180-acres at the historic RFK site will be transformed into a vibrant, year-round destination for sports, entertainment, housing, parks and recreation, and neighborhood amenities.

This month marks four years since Seibel’s Family Restaurant at 15540 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville closed its doors, ending more than 82 years of serving the community. The longtime local favorite, which officially closed on Sunday, November 28, 2021, was known for its homestyle meals like prime rib and meatloaf, but perhaps most famously for its homemade ice cream and fresh baked pies that drew loyal customers from across the region. Peterson Cos. is moving forward with its long-anticipated redevelopment vision for Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg with Schematic Development Plan (SDP) that details how several portions of the Washingtonian Center could be reshaped over the next decade. A new Traffic Impact Study (TIS) submitted with the plan provides the most detailed look yet at what’s being proposed, including the demolition of the current Kohl’s building and the construction of multiple new residential communities around the lake. MoCoSnow is continuing to monitor and compare winter forecasts from the major local television stations. So far, we’ve looked at  FOX 5, and NBC4. WUSA9 meteorologist Topper Shutt and the weather team has released their winter outlook for the 2025–2026 season, offering a prediction that places much of the region, including Montgomery County, near or slightly above average snowfall.

The Montgomery College Raptors men’s soccer team advanced to the 2025 NJCAA Division I National Tournament after defeating Monroe Community College (NY) 3–0 to win the Mid-Atlantic District Championship. With both regional and district titles secured, the Raptors will compete in Daytona Beach, Florida, beginning Sunday, November 16, against Blinn College of Texas. (more…)
