At a press conference in Wheaton, Montgomery County and state leaders announced that two new speed enforcement laws will take effect October 1, introducing higher fines for drivers traveling 16 miles per hour or more above the speed limit and allowing automated cameras on high-crash roadways.

According to a report from WUSA9, two firefighters are now facing charges after police say they used a fire hose to dump gallons of water onto a baseball field during a game, flooding it and forcing its cancellation. With almost half of the population saying that they’d prefer to live in a suburban area, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2025’s Best Small Cities in America, with five areas in Maryland (not all technically cities) listed in the top 8% of the

list. Three of them are in Montgomery County.


Montgomery County, along with Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, Charles County, and Howard County, voiced support for the Maryland Prescription Drug Affordability Board’s plan to establish upper payment limits for Jardiance and Farxiga, citing the potential for significant savings on government health costs.
