There’s a stubborn myth about this series: that because Quince Orchard has owned the win column, every regular-season meeting since 2014 and 13 of the last 15 overall, the Cougars simply roll through the Jaguars. Anyone who’s watched even one of these games knows the truth: history sits on the scoreboard, but the drama lives on the field. QO may more often leave with the W, but rarely without a fight. Last year’s game, a Northwest comeback that pulled within 15 yards of a tying score in the closing minutes, was the clearest reminder that these two teams bring out something different in each other. Expect more of the same Friday night in the Cougar Dome.

A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of the Odessa Shannon Middle School student who was seriously injured on Wednesday, October 22, during a physical education class in Silver Spring. According to his mother, Emily Diaz, the funds will help cover medical expenses and any specialized items her son may need during his recovery. (more…)


California Tortilla will close its Gaithersburg location at 12211 Darnestown Road on November 2, a store representative confirmed today. The fast-casual Mexican restaurant, located in the Quince Orchard Marketplace shopping center, across from Quince Orchard High School, has been a local favorite for years but will soon serve its final burritos, bowls, and tacos.
