The Montgomery County Council has approved a zoning measure allowing more residential building types such as duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, and small apartment buildings up to 40 feet tall along designated corridors. Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 25-02, part of the More Housing NOW initiative led by Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Natali Fani-González, aims to expand housing options and affordability for working residents. The City of Hagerstown has enacted a temporary ordinance effective August 8, 2025 until February 8th, 2026, aimed at maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and accessibility of public spaces within its limits. This ordinance prohibits sleeping or lodging outdoors in public areas, ensuring that these spaces remain welcoming for all residents and visitors.
