Gaithersburg’s free SummerFest celebration will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Bohrer Park, featuring live music, food and craft beverages, family activities, a 9:20 p.m. fireworks show, and a SummerGlo After Party. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, follow safety guidelines, and plan ahead for traffic and parking; fireworks will be rescheduled to June 29 in case of inclement weather.

The Montgomery County Office of Food Systems Resilience has awarded $304,000 to six community organizations through the FY25 Nutrition Benefits Outreach Grant Program to help connect eligible but unenrolled households with SNAP and other nutrition assistance programs, aiming to support over 8,000 families experiencing food insecurity.

Timothy Pack, 22, of McLean, VA, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for gross negligent manslaughter, second-degree assault, and failure to render aid, following a fatal crash on Route 355 in Rockville that killed 25-year-old Jasmin Gimon and injured his passenger. Pack was driving over 110 mph when he struck Gimon’s vehicle and fled the scene, leaving his seriously injured girlfriend behind. (more…)

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Rockville City Police officers responded to Maryvale Park, located in the 800 block of First Street, for a report of an altercation involving a group of juvenile males. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) referred to the incident as a stabbing.
