Montgomery County has announced two free fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory on Friday, July 4 at South Germantown Recreational Park and Mid-County Sparkles on Saturday, July 5 at Albert Einstein High School, both starting at 7 p.m. with live music and fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. In addition to the Montgomery County government events, fireworks will also take place at Gaithersburg’s SummerFest on Saturday, June 28 at Bohrer Park and at Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4 at Mattie J.T. Residents across the county have reported receiving a fraudulent text claiming to be from the “Maryland State Department of Motor Vehicles” and demanding immediate payment. This agency does not exist, as it is called the Maryland Motor Vehicles Administration in Maryland, and the agency would not communicate with you via text.

The Montgomery County (MD) Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a rise in scam calls where impersonators claim there’s a warrant for arrest and demand payment via prepaid cards. Officials emphasize that the Sheriff’s Office will never request money or financial information over the phone and urge anyone affected to report it. (more…)


Onekick Martial Arts, a well-respected name in the local martial arts community, is opening its second location at 255 Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg. This new site will occupy the space formerly held by Charm City Run, which closed its doors in January after two and a half years of operation.

Green Bamboo Asian Bistro, located at 5751 Fishers Ln. in Rockville, MD, has permanently closed its doors. Known for its relaxed, family-run ambiance, the bistro delighted diners with an array of Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes. One of its most celebrated attractions was the popular weekend special– 50% off sushi. A new restaurant will soon be taking its place.
