Federal Realty has announced that Nordstrom Rack will open a 26,000 square foot store at Congressional Plaza in Rockville in fall 2026. The store will be located at 1683 Rockville Pike, the former site of Buy Buy Baby.

The Shoppers Food store in Germantown, located at 18066 Mateny Road, has closed permanently as of Saturday, November 1. The Germantown location was one of four Maryland stores set to close by November 8, along with locations in College Park, Laurel, and Capitol Heights.

Several new businesses have opened or are on the way to Wintergreen Plaza along Rockville Pike, according to leasing documents for the shopping center. This continues a wave of new energy for one of Rockville’s busiest shopping centers.
Zara is preparing to relocate within Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, moving from its current space on the lower level of the Nordstrom wing to the upper level, where it will take over the former Gap and Gap Kids space.

Permanent signage has now been installed for Go Fresh 365, the Chinese and Asian supermarket chain that will replace Safeway at 1800 Rockville Pike in The Galvan at Twinbrook.
A Gaithersburg favorite is getting ready for a new chapter. Taco Bar El Güero, which closed its longtime home inside the Shell station at 10003 B Fields Rd earlier this month, is preparing to open its new restaurant in Downtown Crown this November. The upcoming location, at 200 Ellington Avenue, will take over the space that previously housed BurgerIM and Smashburger (sneak peek available below).
