It will be located in the space that was previously home to Bed Bath & Beyond, next to the recently opened Gold’s Gym. The chain is also scheduled to open Montgomery County locations at 2210 Veirs Mill Rd. Last year, Spirit had an additional Montgomery County location in Burtonsville. While no opening dates have been provided, all three stores are expected to open this month.

Dollar Tree has signed on to take on the vacant space on the upper level of the Metro Pike Center at 11560 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda. Construction is expected to begin soon on the space next to Palm Beach Tan. An opening date is not yet available, but we anticipate a 2024 opening.

The national chain, which has MoCo locations in Damascus, Derwood, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Montgomery Village, Rockville, Silver Spring, and Wheaton has added “Dollar Tree Plus” sections to area stores. Items in the “Plus” section are priced $3 and $5.  New higher priced items include cookware, headphones, chargers, and t-shirts (Baby Yoda, Lilo & Stich, etc.)  similar to those found at FiveBelow.

This past weekend, MegaMart opened its new location a few miles south at 33 Dalamar St. in Gaithersburg. The new grocery store is located at the former site of iconic MoCo restaurant, The Golden Bull, which closed in 2017. The existing MegaMart located across the street at 401 N Frederick Ave in the Hudson Trail Center will remain open for two more weeks. The Mega Bakery at 405 N Frederick Ave will also be closing and relocating to the new site.

Children’s clothing chain Carter’s is returning to its previous Gaithersburg Square location at 520 N. Per the City of Rockville: The city’s contractor applied final pavement markings on North Washington Street and East Middle Lane in August as part of the city’s Town Center Road Diets Project. New traffic patterns are now in place on North Washington Street and East Middle Lane after the city’s contractor converted the two existing motor vehicle travel lanes into one lane in each direction, creating new bike lanes. New on-street parking spaces were also added.

As a final step in the project, the contractor will install precast concrete curbs for the bike lanes, meter poles and signs. For more information, including the approved construction plans, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/visionzeroprojects.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) today issued a sports wagering facility license to Whitman Gaming, Inc., and its operator partner FanDuel, for a retail sportsbook operating at Sports & Social in North Bethesda.

The Washington Post recently released a searchable list of the best pizza by state, divided into eight different categories. They analyzed 7.5 million Yelp reviews and developed a formula to identify the “best.” Ema Rossi, a family-owned and operated Italian restaurant that serves wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza, pastas, salads, and small plates, was ranked as the best “Neapolitan-ish” style pizza in the state of Maryland.

According to WaPo, “While “Neapolitan” is strictly defined, Neapolitan-ish includes puffy-crusted wood-fired pizzas with all sorts of fancy toppings.” Ema Rossi has been doing it since they opened in the old Pizza Hut location in the Rock Creek Village Center (5556 Norbeck Rd) back in July 2020– a very difficult time for a restaurant to get started with many Covid restrictions in place.
