Seasonal retailer See’s Candies is now open at Montgomery Mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd in Bethesda. See’s specializes in chocolates, truffles, fudge, brittle, toffee, and nuts. See’s joins Sheepskin Gifts & Alpaca Too as stores that have recently opened in the mall for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
Coming soon signage is up for JD Sports on the lower level of Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) in Bethesda. JD Sports sells sneakers, sportswear and accessories from brands like Nike, Jordan, Adidas, New Balance, and Vans.
Westfield Wheaton Mall has announced the opening of Apex Vets, an independent veterinary specialty hospital founded and operated by veterinarians with ties to Montgomery County and Washington, D.C. Opening today, Tuesday November 14, and located at 11060 Veirs Mill Road, Apex Vets boasts a roster of board-certified specialists in surgery, neurology, and anesthesia, as well as an emergency department. Apex Vets empowers their team to strive for continued improvement in everything they do in order to provide the highest-caliber of advanced medicine.
Brio’s Chicken has announced it will open a location at Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) in Bethesda. The restaurant will be located in the space previously occupied by Tara Thai, which closed this past spring. Menu items at Brio’s will includes Peruvian charbroiled chicken, empanadas, paninis, steaks, and seafood. Brio’s plans to be open daily from 8am-9pm and will offer Sunday brunch (full menu below.) No opening timeframe has been announced.
Brio’s Chicken was scheduled to open a location in the Kentlands but after several years of delays and issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant never materialized. Brio’s Chicken previously had a location in Aspen Hill in the Aspen Manor shopping center, where Outback is located, but that location is under new ownership and is now known as Gio’s Chicken.
Westfield Montgomery has announced details for this year’s ‘Home for the Holidays Celebration’ taking place on Saturday, November 18th. The event will be hosted by The Holderness Family (The Amazing Race, YouTube) and feature performances by the Gay Men’s Chorus of DC’s, the Maryland Youth Ballet, and Rockapella. Award-winning content creators and best-selling authors, Penn and Kim Holderness of The Holderness Family will host the free celebration that welcomes the winter holidays. With over one billion views across social media, The Holderness Family will bring their signature brand of family comedy and joy to Bethesda, Maryland for the day. The duo are best known for winning Season 33 of The Amazing Race and chronicling their marriage and family life through hilarious videos for their eight million followers.
Lids is now open at Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) in Bethesda. The store is located next to LEGO on the mall’s lower level. Lids is a “mall based, retail headwear” store that sells NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL licensed hats and merchandise. According to Westfield, “Get lettering or a unique design embroidered on you new find! Don’t want a flat brimmed hat? Lids will steam and curve the brim in house!”

It will be a great opportunity to learn more about Montgomery College classes, offerings, scholarships and financial assistance programs. There will be information available about WDCE (Workforce Development and Continuing Education) offerings, such as information technology, cosmetology, real estate, youth programs, early childhood education, automotive technology and building trades, and more.
For residents seeking information in Spanish, the College’s Hispanic Business Institute and the Early Childhood Education program will have Spanish-speaking representatives on site to answer questions. The whole family is welcome at this free event. Held rain or shine.
PacSun will close its only Montgomery County location by Thursday, October 26th, according to a store representative we spoke with this afternoon. We were told there are currently sales going on, but that inventory is going quick. The store has been in Montgomery Mall since the 90s, located on the lower level near Old Navy. PacSun still has a nearby location in Tysons Corner.

Italian women’s clothing line Calzedonia is coming to the lower level of Montgomery Mall, across from the LEGO store. Calzedonia specializes in leggings and swimsuits. We will provide an update when an opening date is announced.
