PacSun will close its only Montgomery County location by Thursday, October 26th, according to a store representative we spoke with this afternoon. We were told there are currently sales going on, but that inventory is going quick. The store has been in Montgomery Mall since the 90s, located on the lower level near Old Navy. PacSun still has a nearby location in Tysons Corner.

Italian women’s clothing line Calzedonia is coming to the lower level of Montgomery Mall, across from the LEGO store. Calzedonia specializes in leggings and swimsuits. We will provide an update when an opening date is announced.
Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Rd) and Montgomery County Police will host their 2nd annual Boo Bash on Sunday, October 29 from 12-3pm. According to Westfield, “this free Halloween event offers festive fun for all ages including a safety stage show, costume contest and a card and candy donation design center (in partnership with the National Institute of Health) benefitting children who are unable to trick-or-treat this year. Attendees can get creative with cupcake decorating, pumpkin painting, and witnessing a “zombie apocalypse” via social media. After getting down at a family dance party, enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the mall until 4pm. All activities will take place in the lower level Macy’s Court.

As recently as this past May, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) maintained its deleveraging progress with U.S. asset sales with the sale of Westfield Brandon Shopping Center (located in Brandon, Florida) in the US for $220 million. It was reported in 2021 that Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) planned to sell all of it’s US holdings in 2022. Last year, then-Chief Executive Jean-Marie Tritant told investors that Unibail wants to shed most of its U.S. properties by the end of 2023, which pushed things back about a year, but things appear to have changed according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
“Unibail is also investing in its top properties.” the report stated. “Unibail is also moving forward with development projects at properties in Illinois, northern New Jersey and Bethesda, Md., including adding apartments and open-air retail and restaurants.” According to development information posted by Westfield, this will include “reimagining the Westfield Montgomery experience by creating a mid-rise multi-family and amenity-rich community with architecture that reflects the seasonal, wooded quality of the community, combined with a modern, urbane feel. Westfield Montgomery is hosting a job fair on Saturday, October 21 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. “Bring your resume and meet with dozens of employers for meet & greets and on-the-spot interviews. Part time, full time and seasonal positions available! Located in center court on the lower level. Multiple retailers and restaurants will be there as well as community partners including but not limited to MCPD, Rockville City Police, Emergency 911 and more will be coming out for hiring and recruiting opportunities for part-time, full-time as well as some holiday hours.”
The Jolly Shows Carnival will be at Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda) from Wednesday, October 4th until Sunday, October 8th. The carnival was previously scheduled to take place from September 20th-24th, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
There will be over 30 attractions, including carnival rides, games, and food wagons. According to their website, “We are a new generation of carnival operators who strive to be more progressive and professional. We realize that we must produce a premium product for our customer’s hard earned money. We won’t forget our proud traditions, but we are committed to overcoming the stigmas which have hindered our industry for far too long.”
Wiseguy Pizza is holding a grand opening party on Tuesday, October 3rd from 3-6PM for its new location in Wheaton Mall. The event will feature free slices of pizza for the first 500 customers, games, and prizes. The restaurant is located in the space that was previously occupied by Angel’s Pizza in the food court (preview video available below).
