Memorial Honoring Tuskegee Airman Brigadier General Charles McGee Unveiled at Silver Spring Library

A memorial honoring Tuskegee Airman and WWII veteran Brigadier General Charles E. McGee was unveiled at the Silver Spring library named in his honor, commemorating his legacy days before what would have been his 104th birthday. The event was attended by County Executive Marc Elrich, Councilmembers, state and federal officials, members of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, representatives from the Tuskegee Airmen Eastern Region, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Montgomery County Commission on Veteran Affairs.

Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Fatal Crash That Killed Juvenile Passenger During Police Pursuit

Antoine Randall, 20, of Boyds, was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years of supervised probation for gross negligent manslaughter and other charges stemming from a 2023 police pursuit in Wheaton that resulted in a fatal crash.

Fugitive Arrested in El Salvador After 27 Years on the Run for Attempted Murder in Maryland

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), with assistance from the FBI, Interpol, and El Salvador National Police, arrested and extradited 58-year-old fugitive Jose Mauricio Rivera from El Salvador after over 27 years on the run; Rivera was wanted for attempted murder and assault in a 1997 Silver Spring shooting.

Overturned Vehicle Closes Portion of US-29

Alert Montgomery has sent a ‘Severe Traffic Alert’ for a traffic incident that blocks Northbound US-29 and Old Columbia Pike Slip Ramp just past Stewart Lane in White Oak. Per the alert, “Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”

Seven Year Prison Sentence for Defendant Convicted in First Jury Trial to use Police Drone Video Evidence

In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, Judge Harry Storm sentenced defendant, Jovan Ali, 45, of Fairfax, VA, to seven years in prison after he was convicted on one count of second-degree assault for an incident on April 17, 2024, when he stabbed a man. The incident was caught on video captured by a Montgomery County Police drone.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Luis Nunez, a missing 33-year-old autistic man.

Police Arrest Suspects, Recover Guns, Drugs, and $24K in Cash

Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers made multiple arrests and seized weapons, drugs, and $24,000 in suspected drug money during proactive policing efforts on Tuesday night. In two separate incidents, officers recovered stolen and discarded firearms, confiscated drugs, and arrested suspects who now face felony charges. (more…)
