Montgomery County Recreation concluded the regular season of its NFL Flag Football leagues this past weekend at Wheaton High School. The program, which is offered each fall and spring for youth ages 6–14, drew 468 participants this season, including 84 girls. Governor Wes Moore visited health officials in Silver Spring to highlight Maryland’s resources to support residents during the ongoing federal government shutdown, with a focus on rising health insurance premiums tied to the expiration of federal tax credits.
On the Takoma Park/Takoma DC border, an upcoming restaurant will be carrying the flavors and spirit of the Appalachian Mountains to the community. Phia, founded by local restaurateur and SOKO founder Brad Feickert, will be more than a place to eat, it’s a tribute to family, heritage, and tradition.

The 1999 indie phenomenon not only redefined the horror genre but also has deep ties to Montgomery County, where much of it was filmed.
