Alert Montgomery sent out a “Severe Traffic Alert” for I-270 at 6:55pm Monday evening. Per the alert, a “traffic incident closes 3 right lanes of southbound I-270 after I-370. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”

7:29pm Update: All travel lanes open on southbound I-270 after I-370 from earlier traffic accident. Expect residual delays.


Severe Traffic Update: All travel lanes have been re-opened from the earlier traffic incident on I-270 northbound at Ext 4A (Montrose Road). Expect residual delays.

A multi-vehicle collision with injury involving an overturned tractor-trailer and diesel fuel spill on I-270 NB near Montrose Rd have led to significant delays on Tuesday morning. (more…)


The TSA announced that federal enforcement of REAL ID requirements will begin on May 7, 2025, requiring state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs to meet security standards for boarding commercial aircraft and accessing federal facilities.

Crews are preparing to install five lines of massive steel girders extending 295-feet in length across northbound I-495 (Capital Beltway) for a new express lanes ramp that will connect the Dulles Toll Road to northbound I-495. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) states, “Motorists are urged to stay away from northbound I-495 in Virginia the entire weekend of January 24-27 and should choose alternate routes.”
