Montgomery Parks has been awarded a $900,000 grant from the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to design the extension of the Magruder Branch Trail into downtown Damascus.

The Montgomery County Planning Department has released the design concepts (available below) for the Damascus Placemaking Festival, a free, two-day community event that will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.and Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will take place along one block of Main Street in Damascus (9801 Main St, Damascus, MD 20872).
A new urgent care facility, Innovative Urgent Care, is coming to 9809 Main St. in the space that was home to Pet Valu in the Damascus Center until late 2020. A $500K permit has been issued for the interior work to begin.

Last October we let you know that a 5,600 SF retail building at 26437 Ridge Rd. in Damascus was sold to a partnership headed by Alexandria, VA-based Harmon Capital Group for $1.14 million. The building has been sold again, this time for $1.3 million less than a year later.
