Mark your calendars for the 2024 Maryland Cider Festival, happening on Saturday, September 7th at Two Story Chimney Ciderworks in Gaithersburg, MD.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call regarding a lightning strike at a Damascus home on Peak View Ct. at approximately 11pm Saturday night.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a house that was struck by lightning on the 10400 block of Peak View Ct, off of Cutsail Dr., in Damascus on Saturday night.
Last October we let you know that a 5,600 SF retail building at 26437 Ridge Rd. in Damascus was sold to a partnership headed by Alexandria, VA-based Harmon Capital Group for $1.14 million. The building has been sold again, this time for $1.3 million less than a year later.
On Thursday, Sean McGee, Associate Superintendent of School Support and Well-Being for MCPS, announced that the school system had decided to temporarily pause the selection process for Montgomery Blair High School’s next principal. The search will resume during the 2024-2025 school year. Kevin Yates, the current principal of Damascus High School who is retiring from his position on July 1, will serve as the acting principal of Montgomery Blair High School starting August 15, 2024. MCPS recently highlighted 2024 graduate, Edna Reyes’ successful journey to this year’s graduation. She has navigated and completed three programs simultaneously and earned a recognition for students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages in high school.
