The national anthem for today’s Title IX commemorative stamp ceremony will be performed by Clarksburg High School Senior Jeanne Lubikae.

The first-day ceremony by the United States Department of Education for its four Title IX commemorative forever stamps will take place at 11am this morning at the U.S. Department of Education, 400 Maryland Ave., Washington, D.C.


Amazon announced on Wednesday that it plans to close all 68 of its brick-and-mortar bookstores, pop-ups and shops carrying toys and home goods (including Amazon 4 Star) in the United States and United Kingdom, per Reuters. Amazon has an Amazon 4 Star location in Montgomery Mall in Bethesda and one that was planned for Germantown, with signage at that location recently going up. A call to the Bethesda Amazon 4 Star location led to a message stating the store was temporarily closed until tomorrow. The Germantown location is no longer going to open.

Amazon also has an Amazon Books location in Bethesda, which is closed on Wednesdays. Exact dates for closures will vary by location, and Amazon stated it would help affected employees find roles elsewhere in the company. We will have closing dates for all Montgomery County location as soon as they are available. The company also stated that it would continue its focus on Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market grocery chains. An Amazon Fresh grocery store recently opened in Chevy Chase and one is planned for Gaithersburg. It was recently announced that an Amazon grocery store is in the plans for White Oak Town Center as well.


Montgomery County Police have released additional information after two people were found dead on Monday morning in Manchester Farm neighborhood of Germantown.

Gaithersburg, MD – A Germantown woman was killed, in what Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division is investigating as a murder-suicide.


Two people were found dead by Montgomery County Police around 9am this morning in a parking lot located in the 18900 block of Highstream Drive in the Manchester Farm neighborhood of Germantown.

MCPD found the victims after responding to a call for shots fired in the area.


In December, we let you know that Sharetea, a bubble tea cafe located at 13012 Middlebrook Road in Germantown Commons, would be coming to Germantown.

The international bubble tea brand was established in Taiwan in 1992 and has since grown to over 300 stores worldwide. This will be its first Montgomery County location and first in Maryland.


Update: Montgomery County Police report that one person has died as a result of the collision.

Two vehicles collided in a head-on crash at Ridge Rd and Kings Valley Rd in Damascus on Friday around 5pm, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
