WMATA has shared that on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday Oct. 5, free shuttle buses will replace trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Av/Benning Road on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines.

Metro has announced a strong close to fiscal year 2025, achieving $120 million in savings while delivering record ridership growth and national recognition for service excellence.
Metro has won the transit industry’s most prestigious award, being recognized as the Outstanding Public Transit Agency of the Year by the American Public Transportation Association.
Metro is proposing changes to Rockville’s Twinbrook Station’s transit facilities to enable joint development, create a transit plaza, and increase ridership. The proposed changes include the removal of the 164-space Park & Ride surface lot and the relocation of the bus loop and Kiss and Ride facilities on the west side of the site to accommodate future development.
On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, Metrorail will open at 6 a.m. and close at midnight, operating on regular Sunday schedules at all stations. Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule. MetroAccess customers may make a reservation to travel on the holiday; however, subscription trips will be canceled.
The people have spoken! After more than 20,000 votes from customers throughout the region, Metro has announced the winner of the competition. The public selected Option 3 as the updated livery design for Metro’s incoming rail fleet (featured photo above).
DC Metro has the most escalators (and elevators) of any transit system in North America with a total of 674. Metro’s longest escalator is at the Wheaton station right here in Montgomery County. The 230 ft. escalator is the longest single span escalator in the entire western hemisphere (video below).
