TMZ, one of the biggest media websites specializing in celebrity news and entertainment, has reported that Jay-Z and Jeff Bezos had dinner together on Monday night and that the partnership to put in a bid to buy the Washington Commanders has been “cemented.”

TMZ previously reported on Thursday that “Jay-Z and Jeff Bezos, two of the most successful men in America, are interested in buying the Washington Commanders, in light of owner Dan Snyder’s interest in selling the NFL team, sources tell TMZ Sports.” Today’s report states “A Jay-Z and Jeff Bezos partnership to buy the Washington Commanders seems to be full throttle … because Monday night the two billionaires grabbed dinner in LA — breaking bread for more than two hours.”

Many of you have ridden over this viaduct on the train or seen pictures of it, but not many have actually visited the structure from below. That is because there are only two ways to access it – either by a very steep and overgrown path from Waring Station Road at the top, or through the private property of the Izaak Walton League below. For this event the League has granted GHS and our guests access through their property. We may even have a picnic in their pavilion if the weather cooperates.

From the time the Metropolitan Branch of the B & O Railroad began service to Washington D.C. in the spring of 1873 it started to transform the County. Suburban railroad towns started popping up down-county and the farmers up-county began planting peach and apple trees and milking cows. Steam-powered mills and factories were built near the train stations, bringing us into the Industrial Age. City folk came up from the city in the summer to escape the sweltering heat, noise and pollution. So people in the up-county opened their homes as rooming houses or built hotels to accommodate them.

Divaris Real Estate has announced that the recently sold Gaitherstowne Plaza is once again fully leased with the signing of the last inline space to Tobacco Hut & Vape Inc, who took the remaining 1,003 SF in the center. The 71,329 GLA Montgomery County shopping center, located at 206 – 300 N Frederick Avenue  holds a tenant roster of many national and regional retailers including Gabe’s, AutoZone, The Vitamin Shoppe, Sherwin Williams, and others. Potential availability remains for the proposed pad site located at the signalized intersection of McBain Avenue & Chestnut Avenue. The pad site could contain a drive-thru according to the photo below.

In June it was announced that Gaitherstowne Plaza was sold for $24.45 Million. Per the press release sent out at that time, the average tenure of tenants at the property is over 10 years. “This is a generational acquisition as there are a limited number of transactions in esteemed Montgomery County, which is ranked as the nation’s fifth-wealthiest county by Bloomberg,” noted Dean Zang, IPA executive managing director.

Per the DVNF: “Although flawless counts are impossible to come by – the transient nature of homeless population presents a major difficulty – the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates that 40,056 veterans are homeless on any given night.  Over the course of the year, approximately twice that many experience homelessness. Did you know only 7% of the general population can claim veteran status, but nearly 13% of the homeless adult population are veterans?”
