Rockville

The City of Rockville will vote on a site plan submitted by Flagship Maryland Propco, LLC (the “Applicant”), proposing several improvements to the existing Flagship Carwash facility located at 975 Rollins Avenue. The Applicant intends to demolish the existing self-service carwash building and install self-service vacuum spaces, full-service finishing spaces, and modify the on-site circulation. The existing full service carwash building will remain. The Applicant also cites that the hours of operation will be reduced from 7AM through 11PM to 8AM through 6:30PM because of the removal of the self-service carwash.

City of Rockville Staff recommends approval of Level 2 Site Plan Application STP2022-00446, to demolish the existing self-service carwash, install self-service vacuums and full-service finishing spaces, and complete onsite circulation improvements at 975 Rollins Avenue, as well as approval of the requested parking reduction and the nonconforming alteration, based on the findings and conditions of approval contained in this report. A meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 30th to vote on the approval of the application.

Germantown

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at approximately 8:31 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the Dollar Tree store in the 18000 block of Mateny Rd. for the report of a strong-arm robbery that just occurred. The investigation by detectives has determined that Morris entered the store, picked up merchandise to purchase and went to the counter. While an employee was helping another customer, Morris pushed the employee out of the way. The two struggled and Morris stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and left the scene.


Rockville

Per MCPD– Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Saniah Brown, a missing 17-year-old from Rockville.  Brown was last seen on Saturday, October 21, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue in Rockville.

Brown is approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. It is unknown what clothing she was last seen wearing.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public assistance in locating a missing 14-year-old from Silver Spring. Jessica Nicole Garcia Aldana was last seen on Monday, November 21, 2022, at approximately 4 p.m., in the 2200 block of McMahon Rd.

Aldana is approximately 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. It is known what she was last seen wearing. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Rockville

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 14-year-old from Rockville. Allison Espinales was last seen on Monday, November 21, 2022, at approximately 2 a.m., in the 14200 block of Canterbury Ln.

Espinales is approximately 5-feet tall and weighs 110 pounds. She has reddish hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what she was last seen wearing. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Darnestown

Coming soon signage is up at Isaac’s Poultry Market at 12167 Darnestown Rd in Gaithersburg, the former site of Pizza Hut. The restaurant is being opened by Rob Gresham, a lifelong MoCo resident and the former Director of Operations at CAVA. The restaurant will feature American roasted chicken, wings, sandwiches, and salads. Issac’s is currently targeting a February opening.

Gresham tells us that everything they sell will be made from scratch and that the menu will feature plenty of healthy options. Isaac’s will also feature frozen custards and a variety of baked goods and desserts. Featured photo by Todd Apna.


Rockville

A burglary occurred early Friday morning at Atlantic Guns at 15813 Frederick Rd in Rockville. According to Montgomery County Police, officers responded to the scene around 1:00am after receiving reports of a black sedan ramming the front of the store.  MCPD believe that five or six individuals made entry into the store and left with several guns. After taking the guns, the suspects ran off. The vehicle used was stolen. ATF is assisting with the investigation.

Atlantic Guns posted the following message this morning on social media: “🚨 SMASH AND GRAB 🚨 As many of our followers, customers, and friends already know, there was an attempt to make entry into the store last Saturday morning. Unfortunately, what appears to be the same group of individuals returned early this morning and made a successful entry and theft. We are still assessing the damage and missing items which do appear to be minimal overall.


Maryland

Per MCPD: Governor Larry Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan invite all Marylanders and their families to join them for their final Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Government House in Annapolis. The event is free of charge, open to the public, and no reservations are required.

“For the past eight years, it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as your Governor and First Lady,” said Governor Hogan. “The First Lady and I look forward to welcoming Marylanders of all ages to Government House this holiday season for our final Holiday Open House.”


Olney

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section are investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Friday, November 4, 2022, in Olney. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the suspect’s vehicle and are asking the public’s assistance in identifying it. At approximately 2 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the 4200 block of Cherry Valley Drive for the report of a residential burglary that occurred earlier.

The investigation by detectives has determined that an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s home through the front and rear patio doors. Once inside, the suspect(s) rummaged through the residence, stealing property and personal documents.


Gaithersburg

Making Homes Possible (MHP) is still collecting donations after approximately 50 people, including 10 children, from 25 families displaced (most of whom lost everything) one week ago after a fire & explosion on Quince Orchard Blvd, in Gaithersburg.

Per Making Homes Possible (MHP): November 16 explosion and fire injured multiple residents, including several children, at the Potomac Oaks condominium complex at 826 Quince Orchard Boulevard in Gaithersburg. Two buildings sustained significant damage and partially collapsed in the blast. Two other buildings were also evacuated because they may have structural damage. Many people were evacuated with little or nothing and now are in temporary shelter. At the request of Montgomery County, MHP is collecting financial donations to help affected families.
