Miss Toya’s, a Cajun/Creole restaurant by local chef Jeffeary Miskiri, is coming to 923 Ellsworth Dr in Silver Spring, the former site of Eggspectation.
Eggspectation, a Montreal based restaurant with locations across the world, closed back in September 2020 after 15 years in that location.

The African American Health Programs (AAHP) Targeted COVID-19 Response Program, implemented by the National Center for Children and Families has partnered with Hearts In Mind Counseling to provide FREE mental health counseling to African American and Black residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. So please join our “Mental Health on My Block” event hosted by radio and tv personality Joe Clair who will engage families, individuals, and youth in dialogue on mental well-being. Additionally, the community initiative will feature informative panel discussions, fun activities, COVID-19 testing, a mental health resource fair, food, and live music by 93.9 FM WKYS.

Andrew Friedson, Councilmember for District 1, announced on Wednesday that he is running for for re-election in 2022. At this time, no one else has applied to run for District 1 seat, according to Bethesda Beat.
The Olney baseball team has officially selected Cropdusters as the team’s new name, per a post on the team’s Instagram account– @cropdustersbaseball
Back in March we let you know that the Olney Boys and Girls Community Sports Association, in conjunction with Koa Sports, worked out an agreement to bring a baseball team playing in the Cal Ripken Baseball League to the Olney area in the summer of 2022.
A new fire pit has been added to Gaithersburg Square as part of the $6.6 million dollar renovations of the center. The fire pit, which is not yet active, is located in front of the former Chuck E. Cheese location.
“Coming Soon” signage is also up for &pizza at the center. The restaurant will be located next to Quickway Japanese Hibachi and Chipotle.
We stopped by the upcoming grocery store, located at 15790 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, to check out the progress, and plenty has been made. Photos can be seen below.
