Governor Hogan Announces Immediate Authorization of COVID-19 Booster Shots For Seniors In Congregate Care Facilities

Bethesda

Provisions celebrated its grand opening at Bethesda’s Wildwood Shopping Center yesterday, Wednesday, September 8th.

The 750-square-foot culinary gift shop is located at 10231 Old Georgetown Road next to Blue Mercury, in the location that was formerly home to Blanca Flor Silver Jewelry.


Damascus

The Damascus Freedom 5K is an annual community event held on the weekend closest to 9/11. This year, it’ll take place on Saturday, September 11th, with registration beginning at 7:30am.

Proceeds from the event are donated to nonprofit organizations that combine to support troops and their families, including the Wounded Warrior Foundation, USO, Fisher House, Disabled American Veterans, and Hero Dogs.


Education

MCPS Superintendent, Dr. Monifa McKnight, has provided additional information about the updated quarantine guidance for MCPS students that was communicated on September 3rd in a community letter released today, September 8th:

Kensington

The Kensington Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) is hosting a Remembrance Ceremony to mark the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. The Remembrance will take place on Saturday, September 11, at the KVFD’s 9/11 Memorial.

The KVFD’s 9/11 Memorial features artifact metal from the World Trade Center, as well as a piece of the damaged limestone façade of the Pentagon. The Memorial is located next to KVFD Station 705, at 10620 Connecticut Avenue in Old Town Kensington.
