The event will feature a panel discussion, exhibitor tables from local agencies, and on-site vendor registration to connect businesses, particularly small, minority, veteran, and women-owned companies, with County procurement opportunities.

MoCo Government

Montgomery County Council committees will review amendments to the FY25-30 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) and the FY26 Capital Budget on March 20, focusing on projects such as the Olney Community Building, Olney Infant and Toddler Program site improvements, county office renovations, and Montgomery College facility upgrades. Discussions will include funding reallocations, infrastructure improvements, and accessibility enhancements, with key proposals like a $1.2 million elevator modernization project and a $12.4 million increase in Montgomery College’s CIP request.

Beyond MoCo

Cheryl Leigh Gray, 50, of Middletown, Maryland, was sentenced to five years of incarceration, with all but 60 days suspended, and ordered to pay $65,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to felony theft. Gray, previously convicted in a separate theft case, admitted to stealing $65,000 from a friend by falsely claiming she needed the money for medical treatment, when in reality, she used it to pay court-ordered restitution.

MCDOT

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced the winners of its 2025 Heads Up, Phones Down video contest, which encouraged high school students to create videos promoting safe, distraction-free driving and walking. The contest received nearly 100 entries, with winners receiving cash prizes and electronics, while officials highlighted the importance of youth-led messaging in reducing accidents caused by distracted driving.
