Announcement

On August 22, the New Neighbor Interfaith Alliance (NNIA) will host the 2026 Set Them Up for Success Volleyball Tournament and Family Fun Day from 9 am-4 pm at the Interdenominational Church of God in Gaithersburg, gathering volleyball teams, faith community members, and the public to raise funds to help recent refugees in Montgomery County attain independence.

An interfaith non-profit alliance of 37 faith communities and civic groups, NNIA raises funds to help resettled refugees with rental assistance, deferred medical care, English language skills and job placement. They also hope to expand their volunteer numbers to help more beneficiaries with job assistance, reliable transportation, and mentoring.

Yelp’s annual Top 100 Places to Eat “celebrates local restaurants across the U.S. that reflect the unique tastes of the Yelp community.” Yelp’s annual list covers a wide range of places to eat… from white tablecloth to food trucks and taquerias. This year, just one Maryland restaurant made the list.

Gaithersburg

The City of Gaithersburg has received final permit authorization from the Maryland Department of the Environment for the Blohm Park Trails project (18900 Watkins Mill Rd. next to the Montgomery Meadows neighborhood). The final site plans for this project, SP-9735-2024, will be presented to the Planning Commission on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

DMV

Due to how finicky our winter weather can be, a storm showing up on a model a week or more out isn’t usually mentioned by local meteorologists. Thursday’s potential storm, however, has had a strong enough signal to be mentioned by most as we move within five days away from the possible snowstorm.

Rockville

The development formerly known as Rockville Town Square has shared a press release announcing a rebrand to The Square. In recent months we’ve let you know of the upcoming Trader Joe’s scheduled to open this year, the arrival of Dirty Dough, over 1,000 people attending the ‘Tree Lighting at the Square’ event, and an overall feeling of optimism as new tenants enter.
