Bethesda

Every now and then I like to share personal stories that show how cool of a place MoCo truly is.

Montgomery County is home to four of the top 10 culturally diverse areas in the United States (according to WalletHub). 138 different languages are spoken in our public schools, 45% of businesses are minority-owned, 40% of residents speak a language other than English, and 1/3 of our residents are foreign born (including my parents).

Potomac

Back in 1984 Jonathan Holloway was a first team All-Met defensive end for the Churchill Bulldogs. Yesterday it was announced that he will be named the first black president at Rutgers University.

Dr. Jonathan Holloway grew up in Potomac, along with his brother Brian Holloway (who played in the NFL), and went on to play college football at Stanford University.

Germantown

4 year old Aiden George earned a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition for finding help for his mother when she was in medical distress.

When Aiden George’s mom experienced a medical emergency that left her unconscious in a school parking lot, the little boy began to walk down Thunderhead Way in Germantown.

Bethesda

MoCo was buzzing yesterday as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was in town for a meeting at the Total Wine headquarters in Bethesda. The Rock posed with many excited employees and fans before and after his meeting, which was about getting his Teremana Tequila into Total Wine stores this March.

In our featured photo, courtesy of Melissa Gonzalez De Bem (@MelissaDBem on Instagram), you’ll see The Rock posing with employees in the Total Wine headquarters located in Bethesda.

Gaithersburg

Gaithersburg residents Julie Lyst and Bethany Tognocchi represented Maryland in “The Wedding Event of the Year” and were married by Randy Fenoli of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress in the middle of Central Park with 51 other couples from across the country.

They were selected out of hundreds of applicants to represent our state and were given many opportunities to share how amazing living in Maryland is!
