TGI Fridays is recognizing delivery drivers across the country by offering them a free appetizer of their choice on February 10th. The restaurant has two Montgomery County locations, Rockville and Silver Spring (near White Oak).

Additional information via the press release below:

Since February is the month that celebrates love, TGI Fridays®, the world’s first and most recognized casual bar and grill, is dedicating Thursday, February 10th, as a day of “app”reciation to those who deliver, those who show up each and every day to ensure restaurants, businesses, and much more, run smoothly. That’s right. Every truck driver, every FedEx, UPS, USPS, and DHL delivery person; every courier, carrier, and crusader, who not only made sure holiday gifts were delivered, but also that food makes it to each Fridays restaurant and to guests. Thanks to these hard-working individuals, the global supply chain never snapped — no matter how crazy things got over the last two years. Their hard work and dedication is love, delivered.

On February 10th, all delivery drivers have to do is show up at any participating Fridays in their work uniform or simply show their credentials, and tell the bartender or server, “I work in the delivery business,” and Fridays will deliver everyone’s heartfelt “app”reciation with their choice of one of the following appetizers:

  • Green Bean Fries
  • Loaded Potato Skins
  • Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls
  • Warm Pretzels
  • Chips & Salsa
  • Pan-Seared Potstickers
  • Spinach & Artichoke Dip

“Delivery workers continually feel the stress of supply chain challenges. Despite the pandemic and staffing shortages, they load up and drive, fly and deliver all the stuff the rest of the world is constantly tracking because they know everyone is depending on them,” said Sara Bittorf, Chief Experience Officer at TGI Fridays. “These are the unsung heroes, and we want to celebrate them because they deserve our thanks and gratitude.”

Fridays also invites everyone on social media to share their appreciation for delivery drivers everywhere by using the hashtag, #FridaysAPPreciation, and simply saying, “thanks.”

Beginning November 17, all six Taco Bamba locations in Northern Virginia and Rockville, Maryland will open at 9am.
Their all-day breakfast menu is a mix of old and new dishes, including bacon, egg, and cheese empanadas, Migas tacos, and an extra-large breakfast sandwich called the Torta de Huevos. Free coffee will be available until noon at all locations with any purchase.
Why free coffee?
“For years, we’ve offered some really delicious breakfast items on our menu, and they’ve always been available all day, every day. But, we don’t serve coffee, and I think a lot of people want coffee with their breakfast. So, we’re giving away free coffee until noon, all day, every day, and we’re offering some great brunch cocktails to match at all locations except Falls Church. I want people to come in and enjoy these menu items during breakfast and brunch hours, but all items will still be available all day.” -Victor Albisu
If you prefer a cold beverage at breakfast, Taco Bamba is also selling cold brew and cold brew lattes, and all locations (except Falls Church) will offer brunch-friendly cocktails like Bloody Marys, Bloody Marias, Mimosas and a Oaxacan Sunrise.
To promote the breakfast menu and the free coffee program, Taco Bamba is giving away branded coffee tumblers to the first 50 guests at each store who purchase a breakfast item.
See the giveaway schedule below:
  • Wednesday, November 17: Fairfax & Falls Church
  • Thursday, November 18: Springfield & Vienna
  • Friday, November 19: Ballston & Rockville

Little Miner Taco opened a MoCo location at 967 Rose Avenue inside The Block at Pike & Rose a couple months into the pandemic (July 2020).

In a social media post this morning, they announced that “teachers eat free,” by offering gift cards to all teachers who send an email to [email protected] with their name, email/phone number, school, and credentials.

We spoke with a representative from Little Miner who told us that each teacher would be given a $15 gift card (one per teacher).

Little Miner is well known for their Birria De Res Quesadillas and tacos which have braised beef and cheese along with a signature beef consome dipping sauce. The Pike & Rose location has also offered Carne Asada fries, Street corn, Birria Ramen, Kimchi fried rice, Bulgogi tacos, Lobster quesadilla, Kimchi avocado quesadilla, Bulgogi mushroom tacos, and more.

Back in January we told you that Levain, a New York-based bakery best known for their exceptionally thick cookies, was planning to open its first MoCo location.

Earlier today, Levain announced on social media that the Bethesda location will be tomorrow morning at 8am (Tuesday, 7/13/21). It’ll be located at 4844 Bethesda Ave, in the spot that was previously home to Francesca’s.

This will be Levain’s second store in the DMV area– the first local store opened in Georgetown back in September.

A typical Levain cookie weighs in at six ounces, according to their website. Their signature flavors include Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, and Oatmeal Raisin.  Levain is also known for donating leftover cookies to charity every night after the store closes.
