Back in November we let you know that Kung Fu Tea signed on to take over the location that’s as recently home to Yogi Berry, next to Starbucks in the same shopping center as Cava Mezze, CVS, and Cafe Rio at 3128 Olney Sandy Spring Road.
The location will also offer TKK Fried Chicken and Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt. TKK Fried Chicken is a Taiwanese chain that specializes in fried chicken. They’ve been around since 1974 and have locations across Taiwan, China, and the United States. Kung Fu Tea hopes to open in Olney by this summer.
The bubble tea cafe was one of the first to distinguish itself by having a system where drinkers customize their orders by sweetness, amount of ice, toppings, and more, using Asian teas as a base rather than commercial powders.The company opened its flagship DMV location in Rockville in 2015 and has since expanded by opening many shops across the county.
In January we let you know that Tutti Frutti was in the process of transitioning its Kentlands location at 200 Kentlands Boulevard in Gaithersburg to Kung Fu Tea.
The change will be made official this weekend, as Kung FunTea will hold a grand opening that will offer Buy 1 Get 1 Drinks on select drinks (see image below).
The California-based chain frozen yogurt chain started in 2008 and has stores across the United States and in over 25 countries worldwide, and opened its Kentlands location in August 2020 .
The store is connected to neighboring restaurant, Bonchon. It has been offering both Tutti Frutti and Kung Fu Tea products, but in January we were told that it will be transitioning to be only a Kung Fu Tea in the coming weeks.
Kung Fu Tea is a bubble tea beverage franchise headquartered in New York. It was founder in 2010 and the company has over 250 locations across the U.S., including one less than 3 miles away in Rio.
Kung Fu Tea is also opening a new location in Olney.

TKK Fried Chicken Soft Opens at Kung Fu Tea in Laurel, Pike & Rose Coming Soon
TKK Fried Chicken is a Taiwanese chain that specializes in fried chicken. They’ve been around since 1974 and have locations across Taiwan, China, and the United States.
On November 30, 2018, TKK opened a joint restaurant with Kung Fu Tea in New York City’s Flatiron District to serve its fried chicken menu alongside Kung Fu Tea’s bubble tea selections.
They are doing the same with Kung Fu Tea in Laurel and will be holding a soft opening starting tomorrow (Friday, April 9th). TKK is coming soon to the Pike & Rose location as well.
