ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that he has submitted a $2.8 billion supplemental budget to the General Assembly that makes key investments in some of his administration’s core priorities, including support for police and public safety, an expanded cyber readiness and workforce initiative, and critical infrastructure and public health investments. This supplemental budget also funds top priorities for county leaders and local governments.
On Thursday, Governor Hogan announced $45 million in violent crime initiatives to address “out-of-control violent crime” in Baltimore. The money will be used to expand warrant initiatives in Baltimore City, as well as additional funding to victim services providers.

Governor Hogan signed a bill today that will suspend Maryland’s gas tax of $.36 a gallon for the next 30 days. Drivers with a standard 12 gallon tank will save $4.32 each time they fill up.
The State of Maryland is estimated to lose close to $100 million in tax revenue during this period. Maryland announced recently that it had a projected budget surplus of more than $7.5 billion.

The Maryland House voted on Thursday to prohibit the act of declawing cats, unless deemed necessary for therapeutic purposes.
An identical bill recently passed the Maryland Senate and would next be sent to Governor Larry Hogan to be signed into law.

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the State of Maryland’s COVID-19 hospitalizations have dropped below 300, as the state is again reporting the country’s lowest case rate.
Hospitalizations: 296, ICU: 60. Since the Omicron peak of 3,452, Maryland’s COVID-19 hospitalizations have now declined by 91.4%, and are at their lowest level since Aug. 1, 2021.
