Montgomery County firefighters are paying their respects to Green Valley Fire Department Battalion Chief Joshua Laird (Frederick County), who died on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, while responding to a two alarm house fire in the 9500 block of Ball Road in Ijamsville, Maryland.

The ceremonial procession transferring Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services fallen firefighter, Station 25, Green Valley Fire Department Battalion Chief Joshua Laird, started at noon today and many will see Montgomery County Fire and Rescue paying their respects on highway overpasses between noon and 1pm.


East County

The Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Department has announced that their new engine will soon be in service. The new Engine still needs equipment mounting and crew training prior to assuming duty as the new Paramedic Engine 702.

The new Engine is a 2021 Pierce Enforcer, 10 years younger than the current 2011 Engine 702. Both were manufactured by Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, Wisconsin.


Potomac

Around 10pm on Saturday Night, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue unite from Cabin John Park and Special Ops TRT (Technical Rescue Team) responded to a call on the grounds of the Norwood School in Potomac.

A dog (10 or 11 year old mixed lab breed that weighs approximately 80 pounds) had slipped or fallen into an abandoned underground well.
