Saturday morning, the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department celebrated the housing of their new fire engine, known as Engine 703, and dedicated it in memory of their Past Fire Chief, Scott Eric Emmons.

Past Fire Chief Scott Eric Emmons, who died in 2021, volunteered with the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years, in every operational rank from Firefighter to Fire Chief. Chief Emmons also was a DC Metropolitan Police Detective, where he served on the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Chief Emmons’ daughter is now a Rockville Volunteer Firefighter as well.


Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a vehicle fire in Gaithersburg on Friday morning. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire occurred around 10:25am in the Quince Orchard Plaza shopping center, which is in the 600 block of Quince Orchard Rd, near Clopper Rd. The fire has been extinguished and there are no injuries reported. Quince Orchard Plaza is home to the recently opened Taco Bamba, Staples, Shadow Land Laster Tag, and Quincy’s. Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at the Sardi’s Pollo A La Brasa restaurant at 430 N Frederick Ave in Gaithersburg on Thursday around 6pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, there was a fire in the restaurant’s ductwork and the sprinkler system was activated. The fire has been contained and there are no reported injuries. The building inspector, code enforcement, and health inspector have been notified. Per Gaithersburg Police: “Traffic Alert – N Frederick Avenue traffic incident closes all lanes of N Frederick Avenue (MD 355) between Odenhal Avenue and Dalamar Street. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”


Montgomery Village

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Wednesday night in Montgomery Village. According to public safety reporter Cordell Pugh, a pedestrian was struck on Montgomery Village Avenue, near Centerway Road and the Montgomery Village Center Shopping Center, around 7:35PM. One adult patient was transported to an area Trauma Center with critical traumatic injury. Some lanes are currently blocked. We will post an update when additional information is available.

Germantown

Germantown Road is closed at I-270 as a result of a traffic collision Wednesday morning, according to Montgomery County Police. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and should expect significant delays. We will post an update when additional information is available.

Beyond MoCo

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MFCRS) assisted Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue in responding to a collision on Buck Lodge Road and Riggs Road in Adelphi, MD on Monday morning. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS, four patients were transported to the hospital, including two children with Priority 2 trauma, one adult with Priority 1 trauma, and one adult with Priority 2 trauma. Clarksburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to Little Bennett Campground in the 23700 block of Frederick Rd. in Clarksburg for the report of an injured person on Saturday afternoon. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, one person (adult) was pinned between a vehicle and a tree after a vehicle inadvertently rolled backwards. Nearby campers were able to assist the person prior to EMS arrival.  One adult was transported to to the hospital with Priority 2, non-life threatening injuries. Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a kitchen fire at a single-family duplex on State Ct., off of Girard St, in Gaithersburg on Thursday morning. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire originated from an unattended pot of cooking oil that overheated on the stove. Damage is is estimated to be $100K, including $75k in structure and $25K in contents. Two adults and three children have been displaced. One adult was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries due to smoke inhalation. We will post an update when additional information is available.

Bethesda

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and Montgomery County Police responded to a collision in Bethesda on Wednesday afternoon around 3:15pm. According to MCPD, “a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian has Hampden Lane and Woodmont Avenue shut down towards Waverly Lane.”  The victim has been transported to an area hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. The striking vehicle did not remain on scene.  Drivers are advised to an seek alternate route and to expect significant delays. We will post an update when additional information is available.

Wheaton

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the scene of a collision involving an overturned vehicle on Wednesday around 11am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the incident occurred in the 12400blk of Dalewood Dr., near Everton Street in Wheaton, near the Wheaton High School baseball field. One teenage patient has been extricated and is being evaluated/transported with Priority2 medical/trauma.

Per MCPD: “Montgomery County Police are on scene of a single vehicle collision at Wheaton High School. One person has been transported in stable condition. No other injuries reported.”
