Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old from Wheaton. Bridget Coca was last seen in the 2800 block of Hardy Avenue on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Bridget Coca is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. She has long black hair and brown eyes.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Bridget Coca is asked to call the police non-emergency number at (301) 279-8000. Callers may remain anonymous.


Gaithersburg

Per MCPS:  “Due to police activity in the area, Watkins Mill HS, Watkins Mill ES, Stedwick ES, Whetstone ES, and Montgomery Village MS are in a shelter in place. Normal operations continue inside the buildings while exterior doors are locked. Police believe there is no direct threat to the schools. Schools will proceed with a normal dismissal.”

Update: A suspect is in custody related to a shooting.

A police investigation has the following schools in a shelter-in-place: Watkins Mill HS, Watkins Mill ES, Montgomery Village MS, Whetstone ES and Stedwick ES.

Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 13-year-old from Silver Spring.    Samar Hammad was last seen on Monday, March 6, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., at her residence on Fairland Rd. in Silver Spring.

Samar is 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 90 pounds. She has brown and red hair and brown eyes. She was last seen carrying a black and orange Six Flags bag and wearing brown paisley print flair pants.    Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in 900 block of Bonifant St. At approximately 10:17 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for a check the welfare call. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male deceased, in a car, with an apparent gunshot wound.

The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death. Currently, there is no suspect in custody. This an active and ongoing investigation. The name of the decedent will be released following proper notification of next-of-kin.


Silver Spring

David is 6-feet, 1-inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. David was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket, black pants and black boots. David drives a dark blue Chevrolet, Malibu 4-door sedan with Maryland registration plate: 8EJ1963.     Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Silver Spring

One person has died following a shooting Sunday night in Silver Spring. According to Montgomery County Police, “At approximately 10:17 p.m. Third District officers responded to the 900 Block of Bonifant Street for the report of a one down. When officers arrived they located one adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. It was determined the victim succumbed to his injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.” We will post an update or additional information becomes available.

North Bethesda

Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that occurred on Montrose Road at Hitching Post Lane in North Bethesda. According to MCPD,  “At approximately 4:07 a.m., on Saturday, March 4, a black 2012 Infiniti G37 with four occupants lost control, striking several objects before colliding with a utility pole.

An adult female passenger was pronounced dead on scene. A second passenger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. A third passenger left the location before officers arrived.


Burtonsville

At approximately 5:44 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for the report of an armed carjacking that just occurred. The investigation by detectives has determined that an adult male victim was removing an item from his white 2021 Nissan Rogue when the three suspects arrived in a blue four-door sedan. Two of the suspects exited the sedan and approached the victim. One the suspects implied that he had a handgun and demanded the key to the Nissan. The victim complied and handed over the key to the Nissan. One of the suspects left the scene in the Nissan and the other two left the scene in the sedan.


Silver Spring

Per MCPD: On Monday, February 27, 2023, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Montgomery County Police 4th District officers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mercedes sedan in the 12300 block of Georgia Avenue for a traffic infraction. Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as 20-year-old Markus Carter, of Silver Spring, and determined that Carter was driving the vehicle in violation of his learner’s permit.  There were two other occupants of the vehicle, a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old male.

Through investigation, probable cause to search the vehicle was developed.  Inside the vehicle, officers located 250 suspected fentanyl pills and other items indicative of drug distribution.  On Carter’s person, officers located additional fentanyl pills, over $1100 in U.S. Currency, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun.
