Bethesda

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred on Thursday, January 5, 2023, in Bethesda. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the suspect’s vehicle and are asking for the public’s assistance.   At approximately 12:11 a.m., 2nd District Officers responded to the area of Elm Street and Wisconsin Avenue for the report of an armed carjacking that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives has determined that an adult female victim was parking her 2018 burgundy Hyundai Tucson SUV at the location, when a dark colored SUV pulled up next to her vehicle and stopped. A suspect exited the passenger door of the vehicle and forced open the victim’s car door, lifting his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband. The victim exited and the suspect then entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away from the scene, following the dark colored SUV.


Gaithersburg

One of the suspects, later identified as 19-year-old Martir Ismar Mejia of Washington, DC, contacted the victim about buying the motorcycle. They agreed to meet at the West Side Drive address. Mejia arrived in a silver Kia Optima, driven by a 16-year-old. Mejia asked to take the motorcycle for a test drive, and when the victim asked Mejia for his car keys as collateral, Mejia displayed a handgun and pointed it at the victim. He then rode away on the motorcycle, with the 16-year-old following in the Kia.

Per MCPD: Governor Larry Hogan today hosted his final Korean-American Day Reception at the State House. The governor was joined by First Lady Yumi Hogan, General Counsel Sei-Choong Kwon from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and distinguished leaders from Maryland’s Korean-American community to commemorate 120 years since the first Korean immigrants came to the United States in 1903.

34-year-old Pedro DeJesus Perez Oliveros was arrested on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, following an investigation by the Vice and Intelligence Unit. In September of 2022, Vice and Intelligence detectives learned that a female victim had been forced to work as a prostitute and began an investigation.


Rockville

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 15-year-old from Rockville. Jacqueline Diaz was last seen on Friday, December 30, 2022, in the 5900 block of Lemay Rd. Diaz is approximately 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown eyes, brown hair and a nose piercing. It is unknown what she was last seen wearing. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

The Urban Winery at 2315 Stewart Ave in Silver Spring was broken into on New Year’s Eve, according to posts on the winery’s social media pages.  Property was taken and police are investigating. Per Urban Winery:  “Everyone on our Urban Winery team and family want to thank MOCO Police for their assistance with our investigation in to our New Year Eve robbery and vandalism at the Urban Winery of Silver Spring. On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at approximately 2:42 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of an attempted burglary. Detectives determined that on Friday, December 25, 2022, at approximately 8:12 p.m., the suspect arrived at the preschool in a silver Acura Sedan, attempted to force entry and left the scene in the Acura.
