Silver Spring

At approximately 9:06 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the unit block of White Oak Vista Ct. for an armed carjacking that just occurred. The preliminary investigation determined that a delivery driver was walking back to his car when he was approached by two Black males, wearing all dark clothing and black ski masks. One of the suspects displayed a black handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded his property and car. The victim complied and the suspects fled in a grey 2019 Honda Accord.


Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the 9000 block of Piney Branch Road.  At approximately 5:56 p.m., officers from the 3rd district responded to the location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.

A second victim, identified as 20-year-old, Edvin Moises Agustin Leon, was found dead in a wooded area by Montgomery County Police K9 officers. Leon was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy was conducted and homicide was determined to be the cause of death. This is an active and ongoing investigation.

The investigation by detectives has determined that the pedestrian was crossing from north to south in the 1600 block of E. Gude Dr. when he was struck by a blue 2017 Toyota Corolla that was traveling eastbound on E. Gude Dr.


MoCo

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old from Silver Spring.   On the afternoon of Monday, November 14, 2022, Katherine Reyes was last seen leaving her residence on Veirs Mill Rd. Reyes is 5-feet, 8-inch tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen carrying a black Jordan backpack and wearing a white jacket, pajama pants with a black strip and black Crocs.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Germantown

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who robbed a Dollar Tree on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspect. At approximately 8:31 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the 18000 Mateny Rd. for the report of a strong-arm robbery that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that 18000the suspect entered the store, retrieved merchandise to purchase and went to the counter. While the victim was helping another customer, the suspect pushed the victim out of the way. The two struggled and the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.


Silver Spring

An Uber driver was carjacked on Sunday night in Silver Spring. According to MCPD, “On Sunday, November 13, at approximately 10:43 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Silver Spring Ave. for the report of a carjacking that just occurred.  The preliminary investigation has revealed that three suspects stole a black 2022 Kia from an adult male victim (Uber driver) who had just dropped off a passenger at the location.” This is an active and ongoing investigation.  We will post an update when additional information becomes available.

 


Gaithersburg

Three suspects were arrested after carjacking a Toyota Corrolla in Gaithersburg early this morning. According to MCPD, “On Monday, November 14, 2022, at approximately 1:34 a.m., MCP officers responded to the 7800 block of Guildberry Ct. in Gaithersburg for the report of a carjacking that just occurred.  The preliminarily investigation has revealed that the adult male victim was approached by the 3 suspects (two males and one female) as he exited his Toyota Corolla. The suspects produced firearms and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The victim complied, and the suspects left the scene in the Toyota.  

Officers located the Toyota and attempted to pull it over, but the driver of the Toyota continued driving at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the Toyota. In the area of 270 HWY and Democracy Blvd., the suspects lost control and crashed.  Three suspects were apprehended, and two firearms were recovered.  The suspects sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.  


Chevy Chase

The investigation by detectives has revealed that the suspect engaged in a verbal argument with the victims inside of the restaurant. Once outside of the restaurant, the suspect shot one of the adult male victims in the upper body, hit the other adult male victim in the face and left the scene.


Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are currently investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the 9000 block of Piney Branch Road.  At approximately 5:56 p.m., officers from the 3rd district responded to the location for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.

During the investigation into the shooting, Montgomery County Police K9 officers located a deceased person in the wooded area with trauma to the body. The body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death. The decedent has been identified as 20-year-old, Edvin Moises Agustin Leon. This is an active and ongoing investigation.


Montgomery Village

Montgomery County Police are investigating a pedestrian collision that occurred last night in Montgomery Village. According to MCPD: “At approximately 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, November 10, 2022, officers from the 6th district and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Club House Road at Brassie Place for the report of a pedestrian struck.  For reasons unknown, an adult male was lying in the roadway when he was struck.  The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The striking vehicle remained on scene.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.” We will post an update when additional information becomes available.
