Silver Spring

Update: MCPD released the following information, “On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at approximately 4 a.m., officers responded to the area of Colony Road and Northampton Drive for the report of shots fired.  Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased person, with trauma to the body, to the rear area of the 100 block of Colony Road. This is an active and ongoing investigation.  A formal news release will be distributed as more information becomes available. The decedent’s names will be released following proper notification of next of kin.    

7am Update: Montgomery County Police are currently on the scene investigating a shooting that occurred around 4am on Wednesday, November 9. According to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the incident occurred in the area of Colony Rd and Northampton Dr in Silver Spring.  Multiple patients have been treated by EMS and FOX5 reports that one person is dead as a result of the shooting. We will post an update when more information becomes available.


Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Police are investigating a double pedestrian fatality that occurred this morning in the area of Fields Road Elementary School in Gaithersburg.  According to FOX5, the victims were walking to their registered polling place at the time of the incident. Per MCPD: “On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers from the Gaithersburg City Police Department and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of School Drive near Muddy Branch Road for the report of two pedestrians struck.  

Both pedestrians, a 70-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man, were transported to area hospitals, where they were pronounced deceased. The striking vehicle remained on scene.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.   A formal news release will be distributed as more information becomes available. The decedent’s names will be released following proper notification of next of kin.”


Silver Spring

Leuthongchak-Sak is approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair with green highlights.  She was last seen wearing a black sweater, black sweatpants, black shoes and carrying a dark blue backpack. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 31-year-old Denzell Jamare King and 19-year-old Raymon Purnell Taylor, both of Hagerstown, for a home invasion they committed on Saturday, September 24, 2022.  At approximately 10:06 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the 15400 block of Gallaudet Ave. for the report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the child victim was home alone when two unknown subjects forced entry into the residence. The victim stated that one of the suspects grabbed her, threw her on the bed and demanded that she call her mom and ask for money. When the mom answered, the suspects demanded money. After not finding any money, the suspects stole a firearm and personal documents and left the residence. The victim went to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

Bethesda

The investigation by detectives has determined that Jones arrived at the location in a gold Cadillac and entered the store. After having a brief conversation with an employee about purchasing some electronic merchandise, Jones produced a semiautomatic handgun with a gold slide and an extended magazine and demanded the items. The employee handed over the merchandise to Jones, who then exited the store and left the scene in the gold Cadillac.


Glenmont

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, November 6, 2022.  At approximately 1:49 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Georgia Ave. and Kayson St. for the report of a single vehicle collision.

The investigation by detectives has revealed, that for reasons still under investigation, the driver of a white 2010 Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on Georgia Ave. when he lost control and struck a curb. The vehicle continued traveling northbound on Georgia Ave., striking several trees and a utility pole before stopping in the roadway.


Glenmont

A single vehicle collision occurred Sunday morning on Georgia Ave. and Kayson St. in Wheaton-Glenmont. According to MCPD, “on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at approximately 1:46 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Georgia Ave. and Kayson St. for the report of a single vehicle collision.

For reasons still under investigation, the adult male driver, unknown age, and sole occupant of the vehicle, hit a pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.   This an active and ongoing investigation.  A formal news release will be distributed as more information becomes available. The decedent’s name will be released following proper notification of next of kin.”


Silver Spring

Denson was arrested without incident and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with mail theft and felony theft. On November 3, 2022, Denson was released on his own recognizance.  The investigation is ongoing. Barfield is approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and white hair. She was last seen wearing grey sweatpants. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Gaithersburg

At approximately 2:17 a.m., 6th District officers responded to the location for the report of a commercial burglary that occurred earlier.   The investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect forced entry into the store, stole merchandise and a cash drawer that contained an undisclosed amount of money and left the scene. The suspect is described as an adult Black male, medium build, average height, with beard and mustache, wearing a baseball cap, a jacket, cargo pants and dark shoes.   Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the store and obtained photographs of the suspect.
