Colesville

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at approximately 4:02 p.m., a 3rd District officer was monitoring traffic in the area of east Randolph Road and New Hampshire Avenue  (Colesville) when he received a stolen vehicle alert from this Automated License Plate Reader (LPR). Upon confirming that the 2020 Kia Optima was stolen from Loudoun County, VA, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle pursuit ended in the area of Sherwood Forest Drive when the driver turned down a dead-end street and fled from the vehicle. A juvenile female passenger remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody by officers.

Officers from the 3rd and 4th Districts and a K9 officer immediately assisted to apprehend the driver.


Glenmont

A collision with entrapment caused delays this morning on Connecticut Ave and Isbell St. in Glenmont. The trapped occupant has been extricated and two patients with Priority 3, non-life-threatening injuries were evaluated by EMS, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer. The collision occurred around 7:45am Friday morning and some lanes were blocked between Weller Road and Independence St.

Yesterday a collision occurred in close proximity at Connecticut Ave and Atherton Dr which resulted in five injured, including three juveniles, one with life-threatening injuries. That incident is currently under investigation. Police report below:


Aspen Hill

At approximately 7:35 a.m., 4th District Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a traffic collision that just occurred involving a 1997 White Ford F150 pulling a 2015 Holmes light duty trailer and a white 2015 Kia Optima.

The investigation has revealed that the operator of the Ford F150 was attempting to make a left turn from eastbound Atherton Drive to northbound Connecticut Avenue. The operator of the Kia Optima was traveling and continuing south on Connecticut Avenue. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.


Germantown

At approximately 4:20 p.m., 5th District officers responded to Holy Cross Germantown Hospital in the 19800 block of Observation Drive for the report of an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located 16-year-old, Cesar Segovia of Gaithersburg deceased, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

At approximately 4:40 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive for the report of a shooting that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located 21-year-old, Jeffrey Baffour Akowuah of Germantown, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by fire rescue, Akowuah was pronounced deceased at the scene.


Germantown

A 16-year-old and a 21-year-old are dead after a shooting that occurred Wednesday, May 11 in Germantown. Montgomery County Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive around 4:10pm.

No information regarding suspects or a motive has been released. This is an active homicide investigation and Montgomery County Police are expected to release more information today. Crystal Rock Drive was closed for several hours after the incident occurred between Route 118 and Middlebrook Road as part of the investigation.


Poolesville

There was a critical off-road collision Wednesday evening around 7PM on the 15200 block of Partnership Road in Poolesville. Our Public Safety Correspondent Cordell Pugh reports that two juveniles were injured in a collision that occurred “well off the roadway.” One is reported to have sustained serious to critical injuries and was flown to shock trauma and one was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Fox 5’s Allison Papson reports that the teenagers were riding dirt bikes that collided. We will post an update when more information becomes available.


Germantown

Update: Anaya Tillie-Santos has been located safe and unharmed.

Tillie-Santos is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and carrying a black bag.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Silver Spring

On May 4, at approximately 8:15 a.m., 4th District Officers responded to the location for the report of a commercial burglary. The investigation by detectives determined that on May 2, an unknown suspect forcibly entered the church, rummaged through church property and then fled the scene. Detectives reviewed the surveillance cameras and obtained a physical description of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a White male with dark hair. He is wearing a black t-shirt with a “P” over a skull design, blue jeans and black shoes. He is carrying a royal blue backpack or duffel bag.  Anyone with information regarding this suspect or this crime is asked to call the 4th District Investigative Section at 240-773- 5530 or 240-773-TIPS, or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers can remain anonymous.


Silver Spring

Hancock is described as approximately 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 125 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what clothing he was last seen wearing Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Police will be holding a community event this Saturday, May 14, from 12-6pm at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in celebration of the departments 100th anniversary. According to MCPD, this will be the largest community event the department has ever hosted and will feature food trucks, police displays, music, face painting, and more. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
