Large Fire on Southlawn Lane in Rockville
A commercial building with a large amount of junked cars, tires, and debris caught on fire this afternoon on the 1500 block of Southlawn Ln in Rockville. Initial dispatch came in at 3:30PM and around 75 firefighters have responded to the scene, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Pete Piringer.

All Remaining Montgomery County Libraries to Reopen Today
All remaining Montgomery County libraries are reopening today. MoCo began reopening libraries in planned stages on June 1st.
Hyperthermia Alert in Effect Today
Montgomery County has activated the Extreme Heat Plan for a Hyperthermia Alert for Wednesday, August 25, from 11am – 7pm. Expect the heat index to be above 95 degrees.
The Montgomery County Transfer Station, at 16101 Frederick Road in Derwood, has stopped accepting roofing materials.
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection posted a listing of alternative disposal sites, including Clarksburg-based C & D Recovery LLC. Other sites are located in Prince George’s County, DC, and Northern Virginia.
