Baltimore-based ice cream shop is making its move into MoCo, with a location coming soon to Chevy Chase Lake in Chevy Chase. According to OpenCorporates, The Charmery will be moving in to 8551 Connecticut Avenue, Suite 202, a 1,306 SF location. Currently, The Charmery has locations in Hampden, Union Collective, Towson, Federal Hill, and it’s first locstion outside of Baltimore, in Columbia, that opened about a year ago.

The restaurant shop is owned and operated by David and Laura Alima. The Charmery started in 2013 with their its first location in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, MD. Per the Howard County Economic Development Authority:

Bethesda: Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana Opening Delayed, New Date Announced

Due to “unforeseen events,” Connecticut-based Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana has announced they will be pushing back the opening of its first DMV location at Bethesda’s Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) one week to Monday, March 28.

Representatives from the restaurant said the delay was due to a “minor technical issue.”

Trader Joe’s Second Bethesda Location is Now Open

Trader Joe’s has opened its new location at 7900 Wisconsin Avenue, named “Bethesda-Downtown.” This is the second Bethesda location for the grocery chain.

Trader Joe’s held an opening ceremony this morning at 7:55am prior to the store opening for business at 8am.

Kensington: BabyCat Brewery Hopes to Open by the End of the Year

“Born from a love of nature, pets, family, and beer, BabyCat brewery will forever be dedicated to crafting excellent craft beverages and ensuring you, your family and your friends feel right at home every time you visit us.” MoCo residents Sam Mussomeli and Terry Redmond are bringing BabyCat Brewery to Kensington. The new brewery will be located at 10241 Kensington Pkwy.

Mussomeli has been brewing for over a decade. The pandemic gave him more time to work on his craft and move forward with his dream of opening a brewery. Montgomery County native Terry Redmond came on board last year. The duo noticed that the building, located approximately 35 feet away from the railroad track, has recently been sold and reached out to the new owners to see if they would be interested in bringing in the new brewery. After sharing their business plan with the new owners of the building, the wheels were in motion for the new community brewery- Kensington’s first.

Moe’s Southwest Grill in Montgomery Village to Give Away Free Burritos for a Year to 25 People on March 19

Moe’s Southwest Grill at 19222 Montgomery Village Ave will be holding its official “Grand Opening” on Saturday, March 19, and will be giving away free burritos for a year to 25 people. The restaurant has actually been open since February 3, but it’s customary for restaurants to hold their “Grand Opening” ceremony several weeks after they’ve had their initial “soft opening”.

The restaurant tells us that five will be selected on grand opening day and 20 will be selected from the app. According to a press release, “participants must check in through the Moe’s Rewards app between 3/19 to 4/2 to enter. This entitles each winner to one free burrito per week for 52 consecutive weeks.” Per Moe’s: “Welcome to Moe’s!^®” will soon be heard in Montgomery Village when Moe’s Southwest Grill^® hosts its official grand opening celebration after a successful soft opening earlier this year at 19222 Montgomery Village Ave, Gaithersburg MD 20886 on Saturday, March 19. To celebrate the official grand opening, the restaurant will be giving away Free Burritos for a Year to 25 lucky winners! Participants must check in through the Moe Rewards app between 3/19 to 4/2 to enter. This entitles each winner to one free burrito per week for 52 consecutive weeks.

BurgerFi has opened its Gaithersburg location in Rio.

Last July we let you know that BurgerFi, an American fast casual restaurant chain focused on hormone-free and antibiotic-free angus hamburgers, french fries, hot dogs, custard, and more, would be coming to Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg.

Kung Fu Tea Kentlands to Hold Grand Opening With Buy 1 Get 1 Deal This Weekend

Olive & Loom Opens in Kensington

Olive & Loom, a Mediterranean-inspired lifestyle and apothecary boutique that opened in Pike & Rose in March 2019, announced via Instagram in December that it would be moving in with its sister business, Kin & Care, in Kensington.

Olive & Loom closed its Pike & Rose location and opened its boutique and candle studio at 10305 Kensington Pkwy this weekend. Kin & Care is a hand-poured, small batch, scented candle company located in Kensington.

Rockville: South American Cuisine Restaurant, Kumbia, to Hold Grand Opening Party on March 19

Kumbia, a South American restaurant focusing on cuisine from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil, and Ecuador, will be holding its grand opening celebration at on Saturday, March 19th. The new restaurant is located at 100 B Gibbs Street in Rockville Town Square, the former location of Spice Xing.

Per Federal Realty: Kumbia will occupy a 3,904-sqaure-foot space at 100 B Gibbs Street next to First Watch and Truist Bank. Named after the popular music style similar to salsa and reggae, the full-service restaurant will offer a variety of South American food from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil, and Ecuador. It will also offer a robust tableside cocktail menu and a variety of nighttime entertainment.
