Students in the Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and the Information Technology Foundation (ITF) will be selling used cars and computers that they have refurbished from 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, 12501 Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring.
Fenton Street at Colesville Road and Wayne Avenue was closed Wednesday morning around 9am due to a suspicious package in the area of Veterans Plaza, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer.
MCFRS’ Bomb Squad assisted MCPD and after evaluating the situation and have given the ‘all clear’ after no hazards were identified.

Colesville Rd. between East West Highway and 16th St. in Silver Spring has partially reopened after a vehicle fire and fuel spill closed the road around 9am. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and to expect delays.
According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, a moving vehicle experienced a mechanical issue and caught fire.

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a home invasion where a 57-year-old woman was shot.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich delivered his 2022 “State of the County” address today at the Silver Spring Civic Building. This was Elrich’s first in-person State of the County address since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Silver Branch Brewing Co. (8401 Colesville Rd #150, Silver Spring) announced today that they will be merging with Old Ox Brewery (Ashburn & Middleburg, VA) to form one company.
According to a press release, both breweries will maintain their individual brands and tasting rooms.
Montgomery Parks, with instruction by Thrive Yoga studio, is hosting free beginner yoga lessons at Long Branch-Arliss Neighborhood Park (8810 Garland Avenue, Silver Spring) the next four Thursdays (Thursdays, April 14, 21, 28, and May 5) from 6:30-7:30pm.

Weller’s Dry Cleaning at 8237 Fenton St. in Silver Spring will permanently close on April 23, according to a report by Source of the Spring. Signage on the front door refers customers to Kessler’s Cleaners at 1304 East West Hwy in Silver Spring. Built in 1960, the dry cleaner was opened by Charles Weller, who ran the dry cleaner for over 50 years. The location is known for maintaining its original 1960’s design/architecture.
