Takoma Park

The indoor mask requirement will no longer be in effect in Montgomery at 12:01am Thursday morning, but the city of Takoma Park announced earlier this evening that it would continue with its mask mandate.

Takoma Park city manager Jamal T. Fox communicated the continuation of the policy via Twitter, writing that “Vaccines in children ages 5-11 will need time to take effect, plus CDC Guidelines & holidays are all reasons to take a healthy approach to stay the current course!”

Montgomery County satire website The Takoma Torch donated $1,250 to the Olney Boys and Girls Club, according to social media posts by both of them from earlier today and yesterday.

The donation put an end to the “Olney Fans” saga that lasted a few days and provided the county with material for lighthearted banter a couple weeks back.

Vang wanted to create opportunities for chefs like his mom, while introducing unique flavors to the D.C. area. Currently, Foodhini offers food from four chefs- an Eritrean chef, an Iranian chef, a Lao chef, and a Syrian chef. They plan to add more chefs and feature a wider variety of cuisines as they continue to grow.

Back in March we let you know that Olney would be getting a team in the Cal Ripken League. Since then, we’ve shared that the team was looking for a name and shared a Google form that would allow readers to chime in with potential names for the new team.

This led to satire website, Takoma Torch, writing an article about a website for Montgomery County’s newest baseball team “OlneyFans”– a play on the online subscription service OnlyFans, whose content primarily focuses on pornographic material.
