Winter Storm Watch in Effect From 3am Thursday Until 6am Friday Morning
A Winter Storm Watch has just been issued for all of MoCo. For now it lasts 27 hours from 3am Thursday morning until 6am Friday morning, with snow accumulations of 5 or more inches and ice accumulations of a quarter inch or more possible.
Updated NWS service map (as of 3:33pm). 4-6” for MoCo.
Other news outlets have released first calls. WUSA9 is going with 3-6” for about 60% of MoCo and 2-4” for about 40% of MoCo
Capital Weather Gang is going with pretty much the same amounts in their first call. They tweeted the following, “Thursday’s winter storm has *potential* to be DC’s most significant of season…but questions about how much of it is snow vs. ice. We’re calling for mix of both. If it trends more/less snowy, these amounts will be adjusted accordingly in updates tomorrow.”
Justin Berk has all of MoCo in the 4” + category in his map.
NBC4 has almost all of MoCo in the 3-6” range.
As always, things can change. We’ll keep an eye on things and continue to provide you with any updates/changes we see.
