Gaithersburg: Additional Information on This Morning’s Fatal Stabbing at Lakeforest Mall

Additional information has been released regarding the  stabbing that occurred shortly before 11am Monday morning at Lakeforest Mall (701 Russell Ave) in Gaithersburg.

MCPD has confirmed the male victim, who was an employee at the mall, has succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing dark pants/dark jeans, and a dark winter jacket. The attacker was seen running towards Macy’s shortly after the incident.

We spoke with a coworker of the victim who told us the incident began inside of the Metro by T-Mobile, which is located near the mall’s food court. The coworker described the victim as someone who “stayed out of trouble “ and told us the attack appeared to be unprovoked.

Per MCPD:

At approximately 11 a.m., officers from the Montgomery County Police 6th District and Gaithersburg Police Department responded to 701 Russell Avenue (Lakeforest Mall) for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The adult male was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect is described as a black male, wearing dark pants/dark jeans, and a dark winter jacket.  This is an ongoing investigation.
