Urban Winery’s tasting room and patio is now open at its new location on 2315 Stewart Avenue in Silver Spring. The winery was previously located at 949 Bonifant Street Suite A, where it opened in 2015 and stayed until 2020. Urban Winery was temporarily closed due to construction.

MCPS: Medical Officer Community Message Regarding Increase in Classroom Outbreaks of Covid-19

“Dear MCPS Community,

Last week, we saw an increase in classroom outbreaks of COVID-19. While the overall Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 Community Risk Level is LOW for Montgomery County, we should remain vigilant about preventing the spread of COVID-19, as well as other respiratory viruses, including influenza and RSV. Major Bicycle Safety Improvements Coming to MD 187 (Old Georgetown Rd) in North Bethesda

“We appreciate the feedback from community members, elected officials and other stakeholders as we worked to make this vital corridor safer,” said MDOT Secretary James F. Ports, Jr. “These improvements on Old Georgetown Road underscore our commitment to a safe, accessible and multimodal approach to our roadways.”

The safety improvements are part of the resurfacing project that began earlier this month. The overall project will be complete by the end of the year, weather permitting.

Parent Companies of Harris Teeter and Safeway Have Announced Deal to Merge

Kroger and Albertsons Companies have announced that they’ve entered an agreement that will merge the two companies. Kroger operates in Montgomery County as Harris Teeter while Albertsons operates as Safeway. Kroger will be acquiring Albertsons in the merger. Details surrounding the deal can be seen in the press release below:

Collision In Gaithersburg Involving Vehicle and Scooter

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a collision between a vehicle and a scooter on Muddy Branch Rd & W Deer Rd in Gaithersburg at approximately 8am Saturday morning.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) PIO Pete Piringer, one adult is being evaluated with priority 2 trauma injuries that are non-life-threatening.

Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) announced the launch of its new integrated marketing campaign, which supports the attraction of new businesses and retention of existing businesses in Montgomery County, Maryland.

‘Light the Night’ Festival and Walk Will Begin Saturday Evening (October 15th)

Gaithersburg Man Charged With Reckless Endangerment, Crime Motivated by Race or Religion, and 1st Degree Assault After Incident at Hunter Woods Local Park

10/14/22 Update Per Park Police: “The subject was identified as Jonathan Boka, 26, of Gaithersburg. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, crime motivated by race or religion, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and 1st degree assault. We thank the community for tips that led to his arrest.”

Original Report: On Tuesday, Maryland Park Police sent out a tweet asking for help to identify a subject wanted in a crime at Hunters Woods Local Park in Gaithersburg on October 8 at 12:15 pm. Fadope was last seen on Friday, October 14, 2022 at approximately 9:30 a.m. leaving the 11100 block of Columbia Pike. Fadope is 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black coat, gray shoes and carrying a black purse. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

‘Find Your Boo:’ Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center and FMCA to Hold Fee-Waived Adoption Event for Dogs Oct. 15-31

“Adopting a dog from our shelter can provide families with years of joy and unconditional love,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “I want to thank the Friends of Montgomery County Animals for sponsoring this event that will waive dog adoption fees throughout the rest of this month. If you are considering adding a dog to your family, please visit our shelter and have our staff help you find the perfect furry friend for your home.”
